MGM Home Entertainment recruits fans to create and design packaging for the 1st and only Stargate Atlantis Blu-ray disc landing this August 4th. The Blu-ray includes the top two consumer-selected episodes: “Rising” and “Enemy At The Gate.” The specs you can expect (hey that rhymes!), come packaged in a 1080P widescreen format with English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio sound. Well it looks like at the moment that this deal is hit or miss, but the majority rules. Wal-Mart, our favorite discount store of choice, has once again rolled back the price of their entry Magnavox Blu-ray player to $98!! Yep, that’s right Blu-ray fans. You did not read that wrong. It is only $98! Now you have no excuse to not pick up an extra Blu-ray player for the 32″ bedroom set you have. Just an FYI, the player supports 1080P (60p and 24p) video, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio bitstreaming and DVD upconversion (who cares about this). The only downfall is taht the player is only Profile 1.1. Happy shopping!

Wow! What a great day for Blu-ray fans to rejoice. One of my favorite Blu-ray movies of all time, Crank, will see its inevitable sequel arrive on the Blu-ray format this September. One word describes this sequel…ENERGETIC! Lionsgate is proud to announce the high energy octane sequel, Crank 2 High Voltage, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on September 8th. Oh did I say DVD? That must have slipped. If you don’t watch this all digital feature film on Blu-ray, then that should be considered a sin. This is a must own, much like its predecessor.
