Imperium (Blu-ray Review)

Imperium (Blu-ray Review)The marketing for Imperium was completely misleading!  They presented it as just another film about Neo-Nazi America that just HAPPENS to star Daniel Radcliffe.  This totally bums me out because I TOTALLY would’ve seen this in the theater!  Honest to god, I freaking LOVE movies about Neo-Nazis!  But more on that later.  The biggest thing that the trailers left out about this movie was the way the Government, or more specifically the FBI, perpetuates the idea that Arab extremists are the primary threat when it comes to domestic terrorism in America.  When in reality the majority of the terrorist activity that takes place in the states is actually perpetrated by white extremists.

Peter Gabriel – Growing Up Live + Still Growing Up Live & Unwrapped (Blu-ray Review)

Peter Gabriel - Growing Up Live + Still Growing Up Live & Unwrapped (Blu-ray Review)Man, now THIS is the kinda of live show that is sorely missing from this generation of artists!  Folks today think they can get away with throwing up a bunch of flashy lights and random explosions and still call it a live show!  Peter Gabriel is here to tell you that that concept just isn’t up to snuff!  The man actually attempts to visually recreate his songs while onstage.  Each and every song gets it’s own unique visual interpretation.  Whether it’s something as simple as synchronizing himself with a few musicians as they twirl to the beat of the music.  Or it’s something as grand as climbing inside a giant inflatable plastic bubble and rolling it around while the stage itself rotates at the same time!  Growing Up Live is simply a JOY to watch!

SDCC 2016: The Hall H Experience – Justice League

SDCC 2016: The Hall H Experience - Justice LeagueThis is my very first Comic Convention and I’ve spent most of my time walking around with my mouth agape in awe at the incredible variety and awesomeness that San Diego Comic Con International has to offer!  Its like a temporary entertainment epicenter for the whole world to flock to en mass.  I honestly can’t conceive that there could be anything in the world of pop-culture that isn’t represented here in some way.  And everyone is just so nice and welcoming!  Even when you’re among the hordes of people traversing through the exhibit hall, everyone is still very courteous and polite.  No one comes here with something to prove.  Instead, everyone is here with something to SHARE.  Which seems to be the general sentiment of SDCC. SDCC 2016 – Supergirl, Flash, and Arrow Set Costumes!

Shohan Comic-Con 2016 generic 160x160As a I perusing the Comic Con floor and happened across the set costumes from Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow!  The CW is really crushing when it comes to their super-hero shows!  I’ve never really been a fan Flash when it came to the comics.  But after watching this series which starts the magnificent Grant Gustin, I have officially become a true believer and devote follower of “The Speed Force”!  The fact that they’ve even ATTEMPTED to make a show that focuses on Green Arrow is something that should be applauded in and of itself.  He’s basically Batman with a bow and arrow. SDCC 2016 – Dreamworks’ “Trolls” Panel!

San Diego Comic Con 2016Chris Hardwick hosts DreamworksTrolls Panel featuring directors Mike Mitchel and Walt Dorn and the stars of the film Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. You might remember the directors from their work on the Shrek films. They explain how they took on the responsibility of creating the world and origin of the Trolls. A task that they were all too delighted to take on. Based on the two clips they showed, you can tell that this isn’t just a studio’s attempt to cash in on a popular toy of the past. That they wanted to make a real honest to goodness story. And as cliched as it sounds, this really is the kind of movie that both kids AND adults can have fun with. It has plenty of action and adventure for the kids plus the comedy is deftly written that it actually had me laughing in way I usually reserve for movie Judd Apatow movies!
