Star Wars: Dooku – Jedi Lost (Audio Drama Review)

Though it has been a few months since the release of the Star Wars: Dooku – Jedi Lost in both audio and print form, it was only recently that I concluded the nearly six and a half hour audio format of the story from Random House Audio. It is important to note that this is not an audio book, but rather an audio drama, and the difference between the two is quite significant. There is a full cast of actors complete with the musical accompaniment of John Williams’ work and cinematic sound effects to boot. As for the book form, it is important that fans know it is not a novel and instead reads exactly like a script. With all that in mind, let us take a deeper look at Dooku – Jedi Lost.

Underwater (Digital HD Review)

While we haven’t had a movie in the theater for a while, Underwater is one that did see one of the earliest releases of the year coming in January. It opened to some “eh” box office and middling reviews, but an appreciation has come from the horror community regarding it and going to bat for it. There is a lot of support for the deep (DEEP) sea monster movie starring Kristen Stewart to peek that “I’ll check it out on home video” interest for people. Its arrived on Blu-ray on April 14, but unfortunately due to the craziness we live in now, review copies were not available. However, I did want to check out and cover this movie, so in the rare case I accepted the digital code review copy compensation. So, please don’t be confused, you CAN purchase a physical copy of Underwater, but for this particular occasion, I am covering the HD digital version of the film (Yeah, didn’t even send me a 4K redemption code, LOL) for this review.

DC Universe’s Harley Quinn: Exclusive Interview w/ Patrick Schumacker

Harley Quinn Season 1 Interview with Patrick ShumackerWhat I am about to say is NOT an April Fool’s Day joke.  People look at me crazy whenever I proclaim that DC Universe’s Harley Quinn animated series is the BEST Batman cartoon ever.  Yeah I know the Batman Animated Series changed a lot of our lives back in the day, but I’m currently in my forties.  I need more in my cartoons nowadays than just mild adult themes and that’s exactly where I feel Harley Quinn immensely delivers.  It took only one viewing of the first Season One episode last year for me to ask out loud the following eight words.  Where has this show been my entire life?  And if being 2020’s Birds of Prey and The Emancipation of One Harley Quinn number one fan out there doesn’t reinforce the point enough (already at 10+ views), I’m certainly a man of exquisite tastes.  What I mean by that is I enjoy the finer things in life in my media like gratuitous moments of excessive foul language, extreme carnage and gore, poop/puke gags and the list goes on.  You know…everything the Harley Quinn show offers.  Also being a devoted fan of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory for its twelve season run and having the real life Penny from it embody your favorite anti hero of all time is literally just the sweetest icing on the cake a guy like me could ever ask for. James Bond 007 Themes – Worst to Best (Music Review)

With the current state of affairs around the world, cinemas and movies theaters alike have taken a pause and closed the curtain temporarily, which unfortunately also includes flicks that were soon to be released.  One such movie was the next (and possibly final!) outing of Daniel Craig as James Bond 007 that was supposed to hit in April – the tasty looking No Time To Die.

Justice League (4K UHD VUDU Review)

Justice League VUDU 4K ReviewThe Justice League motion picture is finally getting its deserving shot to win over your living room on March 13th (available now via digital retailers such as VUDU here).  As far as 2017 feature films going into last November I had thought of nothing else except Justice League ever since I left San Diego Comic-Con that July and attended this unforgettable superhero panel captured in all its splendor and awe right here.  I have also painstakingly covered the 4K Ultra HD releases of Wonder WomanMan of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad here on the site with both the utmost of detail and exposé.  So it’s with overwhelming joy and rousing happiness I now am in a position to do much the same with my take on the long awaited home media release (digitally via VUDU here) sans the Zack Snyder cut of the superhero ensemble flick, Justice League.  Buckle up ladies and gentlemen as I’m about to steal/drive Batman’s Batmobile both fast and so very furious.  Vroom, vroom!

Wonder Woman (4K UHD VUDU Review)

Wonder Woman VUDU UHD ReviewLast night I attended something pretty cool hosted by VUDU here, a watch party of Wonder Woman.  Since I purchased the 4K UHD stream of it on August 29th I used the viewing opportunity to review the technical merits of the VUDU presentation.  They gave out some really cool prizes too (#jealousy that I did not win any).  Now like George Washington once proclaimed “I cannot tell a lie.”  Wonder Woman was my number one most anticipated film of the calendar year.  Say what?  I’m 100% serious and no I’m not on any drugs.  This is 80 plus years in the making here, folks!  It’s historic!  I would be prone to say Justice League is, but I’m weary about how ridiculous Cyborg looks thus far.  I’m joking of course.  However, I’ll reserve judgement of that until November (as I hear they are working on him in reshoots anyway).  For now let me bask in the ever radiant light of everything Gal Gadot (in Hebrew her first name means “wave” and her surname means “shores”)  and the Amazonian princess she portrays, Wonder Woman.  Call me a sucker, but I just love a strong female protagonist in my action movies, and it doesn’t hurt if they’re hot too.  So you’ve all seen my proverbial masturbation over the three DCEU films that have come before, Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, and now it’s time to lasso up Wonder Woman.  Wouldn’t that be spectacular to lasso up Wonder Woman, huh (insert dirty evil thought)?  Ha ha.  Come on!  Let’s get started!

Finding Dory (Digital HD Review)

Finding-DoryAs most probably expected, Finding Dory became the year’s biggest film this summer.  Following one of Disney/Pixar’s most successful, beloved and heralded films of all time was sort of a no-brainer in the wondering of who’s going to go see it.  This time they would focus on the fish with the short term memory loss, Dory, who was voiced by Ellen Degeneres.  The whole crew from the first film returns for this adventures as well as adding in some new friends voiced by character acting favorites.  This review is covering the digital release, specifically the DisneyMoviesAnywhere version, which can be purchased whenever you’d like actually.  A Blu-ray review will happening in the coming weeks, but there are a lot of extras on this one that really should be touted out in anticipation of that release.  So, here we are! Southbound (VOD Review)

Southbound thumbSouthbound, out now on various Video On-Demand services (Amazon Video, iTunes), weaves four different stories together into a playful take on anthology horror to create a strange, well-scored, creepy ride down a desert highway. While the stories don’t have a common theme, their connecting tissue comes in the form of a radio program that appears in each short and a change in point-of-view or, in one case, a character moving from one story right into the next one. It is a clever way to make it the entire film feel like a cohesive project, which has its advantages and disadvantages as far as effective storytelling goes. Luckily, despite some setbacks, each short film succeeds at keeping interest and maintaining an overall feel of unease in the viewer. Let’s take a look at Southbound. The Sounds: Weekend (Album Review)

The Sounds - Weekend - www.whysoblu.comIn what will be a culmination of ten years worth of albums and fifteen years since they formed in a small town in Sweden, The Sounds will hit the Fall of 2013 running with their fifth studio album entitled: Weekend. The indie rock/new wave outfit has unleashed their latest offering to the world via physical compact disc and digital download (I pray that a vinyl version will be released in the near future). Having just seen the band last week perform at the sold-out final U.S. mini-tour show at The Belasco Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, I knew I had to take to the interwebs and Why So Blu? and share my thoughts on their new album. Sit back, relax, pour yourself a cup of tea, and come with me on this Weekend journey. Continue reading ‘The Sounds: Weekend (Album Review)’

The Last Stand (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)

The Last Stand (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)Like my curious flirtation with Mama in my last HD Digital Download review over here, I really wanted nothing to do with The Last Stand.  Why?  Quite simply…I felt embarrassed for Arnold Schwarzenegger in it after seeing how much he makes fun of himself in the trailers.  It was funny at first, but I have heard and seen enough of it in the Expendables films.  However, unlike the boring and painful experience of sitting through Mama, The Last Stand was actually a decent/fun movie and a great action vehicle for Arnold to launch his feature film comeback with his first starring role since 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.  So join me, if you’re brave enough, at taking a behind-the-scenes look at a fun action and adrenaline charged film, which hit theaters this past January.  Complete with outrageous stunts and humor, I promise you’ll have a good time with it.  I did.  So I know you will too.  Moving on… Continue reading ‘The Last Stand (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)’

Mama (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)

Universal’s Mama was a film I purposely missed when I had a chance to attend the press screening for it up in Cleveland.  The movie’s trailer did not sell me and quite frankly, it looked God awful to me.  I had already suffered through a Guillermo del Toro produced film before and I did not want to lose two hours of my life doing it again.  But the weirdest thing happened.  Instantly, this film garnered all sorts of positive reviews and attention from critics and fans alike.  Even friends of mine raved about it.   So like usual in life, I was kicking myself for missing out on the opportunity I had to see it and needless to say, I was very much anticipating this title’s arrival on the high definition format of choice…in this case iTunes HD Digital Download.  So lets get down to the nitty gritty.  What say you? Broken City (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)

Broken City (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)So I’ve heard mixed things about the Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones 2013 crime thriller, Broken City.  Sadly, I missed the press screening when it was previewed in my area and I altogether missed the theatrical release so needless to say I was thrilled when I recently offered the chance to review the DHD version of it.  For those of you that don’t know, DHD stands for Digital HD, Fox’s early access to newly released blockbuster films you can watch anytime and anywhere weeks before the film’s Blu-ray and DVD release, often with a discounted price of $14.99 or so.  But like I was saying, I accepted the chance to check this movie out in advance before all the Blu-ray and DVD critics get their colloquial paws on their respective review products and be one of the first, the elite, to tackle this one on the World Wide Web.  So without further ado, let’s take a private eye look at Broken City, through the eyes of yours truly…me!  Continue reading ‘Broken City (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)’

The Impossible (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)

Well geez…what can I tell you that you don’t already know already about this film?  If I told you it was the feel good movie of the year, would I be lying?  Well, I guess that depends upon what makes you feel good in life.  If you like a heart wrenching, but uplifting tale of a family that defies all odds amidst a natural disaster that the whole world was caught up in the middle of watching, then this probably is the film for you.  If you are one of those naysayers who says why do I want to be depressed and bash this film without even seeing it, then I want you to skip reading this review right now because Evil Dead is currently out in the theaters and you probably belong there anyway.  For those of you that are still here with me…congratulations.  You have taken your first step towards being a better human in this world. Django Unchained (iTunes HD Digital Download Review)

“Django, have you always been alone?  Django, have you never loved again?  Love will live on, Oh Oh Oh…Life must go on, Oh Oh Oh…For you cannot spend you life regretting.  Django, you must face another day.  Django, now your love has gone away.  Once you loved her, whoa-oh…Now you’ve lost her, whoa-oh-oh-oh…But you’ve lost her for-ever, Django.”  God!  I love that song!  And God I love this movie!  Let it be know here and now that this review is going to be nothing but praise for Quentin Tarantino’s Christmas 2012 masterpiece…Django Unchained.  So if you’re not a fan of the film or Tarantino’s work in general, there’s Sean Ferguson’s Wreck it Ralph Blu-ray review over here.  Are we straight now?  Great!  Let’s get this shindig started.
