Comic-Con 2010: Cowboys & Aliens

One panel after the infamous stabbing incident on Saturday, July 24th at Comic-Con 2010, Jon Favreau came enthusiastically running out onto the Hall H stage and grabbed the microphone as he woke up everyone in the crowd with his zest and energy.  What a fantastic moment that was.  Anyway, he then went on to bring out the 007 Agent himself, Mr. Daniel Craig.  The place went crazy like a rousing crowd at a horse race track. He proceeded to bring out the rest of the film’s cast before saying that he thought someone was missing from the panel.  We all knew who that was, right?  Well, just in case you have been living under a rock this past weekend, Han Solo, Mr. Harrison Ford, made his first-ever San Diego Comic-Con appearance to promote the newest film the cast just began shooting, Cowboys & Aliens.  I’m not sure if it was a joke or real security precautions, but Harrison Ford was escorted onto the stage by two security guards.  I really hope the rowdy fans did not scare Harrison away from Comic-Con in the future.  It’s sad how one bad fan out of 6,500 people can ruin it for all of us.

So… um… they showed a trailer.  Not being a huge western fan, I gave it a chance.  I was instantly sold.  I think I am going to like this film.  It seems like it homogenously mixes both genres of western and sci-fi into a perfect marriage, much like the third installment of the Back to the Future franchise managed to do so many years ago.  The clip we were shown started off just like any normal western would until a certain key/pivotal incident happens and then bam… you really do have a movie about cowboys and aliens.  My curiosity is peaked at an all-time high over this project now.  Before this panel, I can’t say I ever gave this production a single thought.

Well anyway, like the panel before this, I was stuck on a ledge in the front row of the press pit so all I was able to do was snap picture after picture.  I have very little notes about what actually went down at the panel.  Harrison Ford was pretty elusive throughout so I apologize for not having any really good shots of him, but people have requested I unload the Harrison pictures and what not from this panel so I hope you find all you are looking for below.  Cowboys & Aliens is currently slated for a July 29, 2011 release.

Thanks for all of the Harrison Ford pictures! My biggest regret of not going to Comic-con was missing Harrison Ford. Hopefully he will be there next year.

I’m looking forward to this one too! I heard Jon’s interview on the radio and the premise for this movie is really unique. Finally – a new idea, not another remake.

    I agree with you Sandy.
