Cowboy Bebop: The Movie on Blu-ray June 28th

Things just keep getting better and better when it comes to the Blu-ray format.  Image Entertainment has just released this announcement and it declares that Cowboy Bebop: The Movie will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 28th.  Here’s hoping that completes series gets released soon after.  The best comparison that I can come up with is that it resembles Firefly and Serenity just a little bit.  This isn’t a western, though, but does have some attitude.  Fans of those should be quick to gobble Cowboy Bebop: The Movie up!

Synopsis: Mars. Days before Halloween 2071. Villains blow up a tanker truck on Highway One, releasing a deadly virus that kills hundreds. Fearing a bigger, even more devastating biochemical attack, an astronomical reward is offered for the arrest and capture of the person behind the destruction. On the spaceship “Bebop,” Spike Spiegel and his crew of bounty hunters (Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Ed and Ein) are bored and short of cash. But with the news of the reward everything changes. Based on the wildly popular TV series, Cowboy Bebop, the big-screen smash COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE pits Spike and Co. against their deadliest adversary ever. Featuring stunning, state-of-the-art animation, this action-packed sci-fi adventure builds to a breath-taking, nail-biting climax, guaranteed to keep you hanging on the edge of your seat.

Image Entertainment has followed up on their prior release of the Cowboy Bebop movie on DVD with news that the Blu-ray version will be coming this summer. Slated for a June 28th release, the $17.97 release will have both Japanese and English languages in DTS-HD MA 5.1 with English and Spanish subtitles.
