Jean-Claude Van Damme Keeps His ‘Enemies Closer’ on Blu-ray
If you cannot tell, as a childhood fan of action movie icon Jean-Claude Van Damme, I’m pumped about the announcement of Enemies Closer, which will be arriving on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD UltraViolet), DVD (plus Digital Ultraviolet) and Digital HD March 11th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. I saw this movie’s trailer on iTunes trailers weeks ago and immediately texted my fellow reviewers about it. Needless to say, we are all kinds of curious about this feature. Martial arts legend Jean-Claude Van Damme (The Expendables franchise, Universal Soldier) reunites with Timecop director Peter Hyams in the deadly action adventure, Enemies Closer, arriving on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD UltraViolet), DVD (plus Digital Ultraviolet) and Digital HD March 11 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The film is currently available on Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View. Also starring Tom Everett Scott (TV’s “Southland,” That Thing You Do) and Orlando Jones (TV’s “Sleepy Hollow”), the pulse-pounding thriller follows two former enemies forced into a deadly game of cat and mouse deep in the forest on the Canadian border attempting to escape a ruthless drug cartel hell-bent on retrieving a missing drug shipment.
Van Damme stars as Xander, the maniacal leader of the drug cartel who forces Henry (Scott), a forest ranger and former Navy SEAL to help in the search. Henry is plunged into survival mode as he is soon trapped in the wilderness with no communication to the outside world, and finds himself face to face with Clay (Jones), a man with a personal vendetta against him who has returned for retribution. Now, the two mortal enemies must make a choice: put aside their past and work together, or die alone at the hands of the drug runners, a ruthless gang who will stop at nothing to retrieve their lost cargo.
