Matt’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2011

Here we go. My first annual top ten list for Why So Blu. It may surprise you, make you laugh, make you cry, make you hate, yet if you actually take the time to thoroughly view each of these Blu-ray’s, you will surely be on my side. To be honest, it was quite difficult choosing for the number one spot, but I knew in my heart that it was one tasty burger! So sit back, relax, and enter Matt’s top ten Blu-rays of 2011.

Matt’s Top 10

Blu-rays of

2011!

10. Tron Legacy – I was not all too impressed seeing this the first time, but I warmed up to it eventually, and consider it a solidly entertaining, special effects laden film. The Blu-ray looks rad.

9. SuperThe most underrated film of the year. A freaking masterpiece in my mind. James Gunn is simply a genius, and so is this movie.

8. Jackie BrownTarantino’s most underrated film hit Blu-ray recently, and the video/audio blew me away. Oh yeah, the film is pretty good too. 😉

7. Rise of the Planet of the Apes What’s that over there? Oh it’s just my jaw dropping from watching ROTPA. Caesar found his home… in my BR player.

6. Attack the BlockWell, bruvs. This is my favorite film of the year. The Blu-ray is no exception. A great transfer, with a solid amount of special features. Trust.

5. BridesmaidsThe best ensemble cast of the year contribute to one of the best looking Blu-ray’s of ALL TIME! A personal favorite of mine, and who could resist Rose Byrne?!

4. The Big LebowskiDid you think I’d forget about this, man? Did you think I was out of my element, dude? I was just as excited as anyone to see The Dude (Jeff Bridges) on the Blu screen, man.

3. West Side StoryAn absolute classic. One of my favorite musicals of all time features a phenomenal transfer and has spectacular special features.

2. Star Wars: The Complete SagaNo explanation necessary.

1. Pulp Fiction – “Oh I’m sorry did I break your concentration?! Zed’s dead baby, Zed’s dead. I shot marvin in the face. Dorks, they look like a couple of dorks.” My all-time favorite film, now on Blu-ray. Fine with me!

Honorable Mentions: The Hangover Part II, Paul, Batman: Year One, X-Men: First Class, Super 8

Good job on Super being in the Top 10, Matt! It’s a great film!

  2. Mike

Agreed on Super… One of my faves on the year!

  3. Brian White

Sean is going to kill you for putting PF above SW. That’s blasphemy! Lol

  4. Will Santana

I still need to see Bridesmaids. Heard it was hilarious.

  5. Aaron Neuwirth

I have nothing really to say here. Matt made a pretty solid list.

  6. Sean Ferguson

At least Matt had the good taste to include it on his list unlike some other people named Gerard. Lots of good movies on this list and lot that I haven’t seen yet. Star Wars should be #1 though!

  7. Matt Blu-Man

    Nothing can beat Pulp Fiction.

  8. Gregg

Apes & Star Wars, brilliant choices!

  9. Gerard Iribe

Sorry Sean, I didn’t buy any of the SW films on BD. None.

  10. Matt Blu-Man

    Big mistake Gerard.
