Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the “Blu” water. LOL. The re-imagining of the classic Piranha movie was one I did not think I would enjoy, but after all the positive critic buzz I just had to check it out. Sure enough, I LOVED every minute of it! I mean sure, what’s not to love about it? It has a little bit of something for everyone. Yes, I said that seriously. LOL. Synopsis
Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break, a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there’s something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents.
PIRANHA was written by Peter Goldfinger (Sorority Row) & Josh Stolberg (Sorority Row). It was produced by Alexandre Aja (P2), Mark Canton (300, Letters to Juliet), Gregory Levasseur (Mirrors, P2) and Marc Toberoff (Bottle Shock, It’s Alive). Executive producers are Bob Weinstein, Harvey Weinstein, Alix Taylor, Louis G. Friedman and J. Todd Harris. It was distributed by Dimension Films and has a run time of approximately 89 minutes. It is rated R for sequences of strong bloody horror violence and gore, graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.

Some movies are good, and then some movies are Piranha good. In terms of being the type of movie that knows what it is, this was one of the most entertaining movies of the summer.
It can’t touch JAWS!
