Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood Takes Aim At Blu-ray

A lot of people including some reviewers on this site were somewhat disappointed with the latest re-imaging of Robin Hood, but I enjoyed it although I wish the movie began where it ended which would have been the traditional Robin Hood story.  I’m a big fan of Ridley Scott and Russel Crowe and I have a lot of respect for their efforts to do something new but for a story that is so ingrained culturally across the world, I think they should have added more of the Robin Hood mythos along with the new back-story. It was still an enjoyable movie with a nice turn by Crowe and Cate Blanchett was a Maid Marian to be reckoned with.   Add in the talents of Mark Strong, William Hurt,  and Mark Addy and it just gets even better! As with all of Ridley Scott’s Blu-rays, this one is packed with great extras and new features that make the experience even better!  Check out all the goodies coming out on my birthday with the press release below:

I still have no desire in ever seeing this film. Is that wrong of me? Not only was I against it from the start, but so many negative reviews of the film has me saying never on a viewing.

  2. Gerard Iribe

I’ll blind buy this one. I’m glad Ridley Scott was given the chance to assemble a director’s cut. It’s like Kingdom of Heaven all over again. On that alone I will get it.

  3. Brian White

    I don’t concur.

Brian you should watch it. It really doesn’t seem like a Robin Hood movie but once you accept that it’s an enjoyable movie. I think people are getting too hung up on that and then can’t enjoy the movie. Just think of it as a Ridley Scott movie and he rarely misses the mark. Gerard has the right idea. Scott’s director’s cuts are always good and you should give it a chance!

I was bored to tears in this movie. It started off with a bang, but fell flat from there. Crowe and Blanchett had good chemistry but Crowe was/is too old for the role. As far as I’m concerned, I have yet to see a good Robin Hood film with an actor not named Errol Flynn. I will say this; with Charles de Lauzirika working on the content of this Blu-ray, you can bet the extras Sean listed above will high quality fan-pleasers.
