Go The Distance With The Rocky Heavyweight Collection on Blu-ray!

RockyLet’s face it, besides the Aliens box set years ago and the Universal Monsters one, in my opinion this may be one the greatest Blu-ray packages ever assembled, even though it’s repackage (although with a new transfer on the first film) of an earlier set.  One may expect me to say that of the Star Wars Saga set put out a few years ago, but let’s admit the facts.  There’s only one stinker in the Rocky franchise where there’s three in the Star Wars universe, right?  Well, to be fair, they didn’t suck.  But they weren’t that great either!  Haha.  So all in all, the story of Rocky and the films that follow in the franchise mean so much to me personally that I don’t think words can ever accurately describe my love and affinity for them.  So I’ll let the press release below do the rest of the talking for this February 11th Blu-ray release!

Go the distance with this Rocky Heavyweight collection, featuring all six knockout Rocky films including the first film with a stunning new master. Sylvester Stallone stars in the greatest boxing saga of all time and triumphs as one of the most inspirational characters in cinematic history. Witness every epic, action-packed fight and unforgettable moment as Rocky strives for greatness through sheer determination against impossible odds. This collection contains over three hours of bonus features including a new featurette “8mm Home Movies of Rocky” narrated by Director John Avildsen.

Bond 50, Dirty Harry (original packaging), The Godfather, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future, Jurassic Park, Superman 78-88, Batman 89-97, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek (both sets) and The Matrix are also all box sets with worthy transfers and enough movie-specific extras for each film.

The Rocky sets are a bit disappointing in the extras department as they tend to just focus on the original film (or don’t focus enough on individual sequels).
