SDCC 2015: Game of Thrones

SDCC 2015This was a fun one.  Seth Meyers was the moderator of this panel and was fantastic at that.  The guests of this panel were vast and included Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Alfie Allens, David Nutter, John Bradley, Maisie Williams, Carolyn Strauss, Conleth Hill (more on him later) Liam Cunningham, Natalie Dormer and Carice Van Houten, my god!

As we know, we are up to the books for Game of Thrones. Now we can blame writers and producers for killing off all those characters that we love so much. Watch out. That means that character plots and plot progression is held so close to the writers that not even the cast knows where season 6 is going. The level of secrecy is next level.

I have to say after seeing the Dr. Who panel yesterday I was re-excited (re-excited?) about seeing Maisie Williams at this panel today because she’s showing up in the next season of Dr. Who. Actors crossing panels? Into it. The majority of this panel discussed previous character plot, understandably so, based on the fact that there is no new information of the next season allowed (boooo and whyyyy) Seth Meyers said that he tried asking back stage and didn’t get anything out of the cast and he’s,”famous.”

The cast was hilarious and energetic and responded thoughtfully to crowd questions. Maisie Williams responded to a fans questions about adjusting to stardom and Maisie responded by saying that she was so thankful for her fans and only once in a blue moon does she get overwhelmed. David Nutter was asked about how the show was constructed, his response: talks about how the show built one brick at a time and the help from cast and crew was greatly appreciated. One fan asked Carice Van Houten how it was to a play a character that is largely vilified by the audience to which she responded, “Awesome.” She mentioned that she always plays nice characters and this was a nice change. I think the nefarious type suits her well. By far one of the best of the panel was Conleth Hill. He needs just needs to be a comedian on the side. There was a moment where he was discussing an interesting interaction with a fan and he said, “I had one woman who just came running at me with our hand outstretched at my crotch — that was a great party — I don’t speak to my mother anymore.” HAHA.  Too good.

Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres in Spring. Looks like it’s about time to re-watch all the seasons just to make sure I am up to snuff (who am I kidding, just to make sure I understand it) and ready to go! ALLONS Y!
