The Daily Blu…September 16, 2009

It’s kind of been a busy day full of Blu-ray announcements around the world wide web.  Let’s see.  Where do we start?  The Criterion Collection is bringing A Christmas Tale to Blu-ray on December 1st.  At the same time, Criterion Collection also delayed three Blu-ray titles.  Monsoon Wedding, originally scheduled for October 13th, will hit retail shelves on October 20th.  Howard’s End and Wings of Desire will now see a release date of November 3rd, instead of October 20th.

In Blu-ray news not related to Criterion, 20th Century Fox has announced The Mel Brooks Collection for a December 15th release date.  The set, which contains 9 films, includes Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, History of the World Part 1, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Silent Movie, Spaceballs, To Be or Not to Be, Twelve Chairs and Young Frankenstein.

Rumor has it that the next direct-to-video DC Universe animated title, from Warner Home Video, will be Justice League: Crisis of Two Earths.  Don’t expect this title anytime soon.  The rumored release date is not until spring of 2010.

That’s all the Blu-ray news for today.  Make it a blu one!
