The Dark Knight Rises

Hopefully Gregg will forgive me for making one very small post while I am on vacation.  I just heard this news so I could not wait to spread the gospel regarding information on the sequel to one of my favorite films of all-time, The Dark Knight.  First thing first, Nolan has announced the name of the film and it is…drum roll please…rat-ta-tat-tat…The Dark Knight Rises.  I’m not too particularly crazy about the title, but it is what it is.  Maybe it will grow on me.  Anyway, are you ready for the next shocker? The villain will not be the Riddler as everyone has been speculating for the past two years.  It is unknown who the villain will be at this time, but he did spill the beans that it will be a Saw-like killer.  I’m liking that!  And last but not least, NO 3-D!  Hallelujah!  I’m so happy about that.  Nolan said he will continue to explore the HD aspects of the IMAX format.  That’s all for now.  Back to vacation I go!

I would have preferred The Dark Knight Returns or something else but it doesn’t matter because the movie will be awesome. I’m not that crazy about a jigsaw like killer either but if anyone can pull it off it will be Nolan. Knowing his desire for realism, there aren’t many worthy enemies left if you remove the strange or fantastical villains like Killer Croc so I’m not sure who’s left that would be good.

If it was called Dark Knight Returns, everyone would be upset that it wasn’t actually an adaptation of that brilliant comic.

Not many villain choices left? Batman’s rogues gallery is amazing and full of potential options, beyond those with more fantastical abilities. I’m still thinking Talia Al Ghul would be a logical step, round out the trilogy by bringing in Ra’s daughter. And I’ve been championing a realistic Bane for a long time. Can’t wait to hear more news.

I agree that Batman has the best rogue’s gallery but I don’t think most of them would fall under Nolan’s acceptable criteria. Talia would be good and a logical next step after her father was in the first one but if they wanted to use her, it would have made more difference for the second movie instead of the third. I would love to see Bane done well but I think he also would be considered too unrealistic for these movies. It was a travesty what they did to that character in Batman and Robin. I think Black Mask could be a likely candidate though. Or maybe even Hugo Strange.

Saw-like killer? I can only think of Hush or Zsasz.

I’d like to Clock King (Tempest Fugit), Ventriloguist, Mad Hatter, etc… Some say that Tom Hardy will play Killer Croc. They are shooting in Louisiana.

I have heard of killer Croc rumor before, so u never know.

I’ve heard the Killer Croc rumor a lot. I’ve never once heard anything about a “saw-like” killer, which sounds very un-Nolan.

Beyond Mr. Freeze or Clayface, I think there’s a way to apply logic and realism to any of Batman’s villains.

Yeah but don’t forget, we all heard the unrelenting Riddler rumor too until that got sunk (boooo!). If he did the Hush story, that would be simply awesome. Zasz is so secondary of a character. I don’t think he’d be a good fit.

I think Hush would be great but if they were going to do that they should have set that up in the previous two movies although I’m sure it could be done. I will be very disappointed if the villain is Zasz.

I only say Zasz, because he was in the first film. I was reading the press release, and Nolan mentions characters that have already been introduced in the first two films will be back in the third, so……..
