‘Spectre’ (Blu-ray Review)

spectreAsk and you shall receive. After three films in the Daniel Craig era of James Bond that each ended with us believing the character had become the Bond of legend, Spectre decides to put its foot down and throw us into a classic adventure with 007. Sure, the film is still playing with a somewhat grounded sense of reality that comes with the territory of modern action filmmaking, but this globe-trotting adventure is full of all the explosive action that is bound to come with a $250+ million price tag. The only question is whether or not its hefty cost and extended run time were worth it.

Batman: Bad Blood (Blu-ray review)

The tandem of Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics have churned out one animated feature after another. We have seen a number of titles featuring some of DC’s most popular characters such as the Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman features. There have even been a few featuring the Justice League in one capacity or another. I’m not sure of sales figures, but these things have to be successful or else they wouldn’t keep putting such strong efforts toward them. With their latest release, we look at Batman: Bad Blood, a new suspenseful 72-minute adventure and one that’s not meant for the kiddies.

Show Me A Hero (Blu-ray Review)

Can Oscar Isaac Show Me a Hero that doesn't wear a cape? (Blu-ray Review)This true story takes place during the late 80’s in Yonkers, New York.  The newly elected 28 year old Mayor Nick Wasicsko has a major housing crisis to deal with.  The courts have ruled that the city of Yonkers must build new low income housing witch would integrate and diversify traditionally white neighborhoods.  Needless to say, this doesn’t go over so well.  Even though it’s 1987 there are still plenty of people who believe that keeping to your own race is the best way to maintain peace and civility.  There are also those who say that it’s not a matter of race, but economics.  That the value of their homes will be brought down if low income housing comes in.  Now granted, that is a valid argument.  But the problem is, and they do touch on this, is that people of color have been systematically segregated into neighborhoods away from white people.

Burnt Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all and lost it. The former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene had earned two Michelin stars and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive star though, Jones will need to leave his bad habits behind and get the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.  Continue reading ‘Burnt (Blu-ray Review)’

Da Vinci’s Demons – The Complete Third Season (Blu-ray Review)

Da Vinci's Demons - The Complete Third Season (Blu-ray Review)This season opens with the Turkish army as their ships approach the shores of Italy, poised to attack.  Meanwhile Da Vinci is at the ready with one of his inventions; he has secured multiple cannons together in a way that they can be fired and maneuvered by one person.  But what he doesn’t know is that the Turks have a secret weapon of their own.  But does this season hold up to it’s predecessors?  I’m a big fan of David S. Goyer and the work he’s done on the DC films such as “The Dark knight Trilogy” and “Man of Steel”.  So I was excited to check this show out!  Though Goyer’s dialogue may be a bit weak at times his strength generally lies in his character development.
