KISS Goes Solo!

Echoing their famous series of 1978 solo albums, this March, legendary rockers KISS take to solo adventures in a new miniseries from IDW Publishing! Further exploring the deep mythology that’s made the Kings of Rock hold dual citizenship as Kings of Comics, this year, The-Four-Who-Are-One must take up arms alone against a slew of dynamic enemies and evil forces. Spread out across four dimension-shattering issues, this face-melting slew of hard-rocking comics tectonics kicks off with KISS SOLO: THE DEMON, a tale starring Gene Simmons’ classic alter ego, The Demon! Veteran KISS writer Chris Ryall and fan-favorite Kiss artist Angel Medina, rejoining the band for the first time since Kiss: Psycho Circus, weave another tale of epic bombast and explosive rock and paving the way for the accompanying tales of the Starchild, the Celestial, and the Catman!  Continue reading ‘KISS Goes Solo!’

GI JOE: Retaliation Trailer – Round 2

I know I wasn’t the only person bummed that GI JOE: Retaliation was abruptly moved a whole 9 months later from its original June 2012 release date all the way to this March, for a 3D post-conversion no less (with plenty of rumors surrounding other behind the scenes fiddling).  Regardless, the newest trailer for the upcoming action-packed sequel has hit the interwebs and still looks to be a lot of fun.  Continue on to check out the trailer, as well as the brand new poster for the film.  Go JOE!

Compliance Judges Your Morals on Blu-ray This January

Finally!  I get to talk about one of my favorite movies of 2012.  And it’s as simple as this.  Compliance asks the most primal of questions in life.  How far would you go?  How far would you go to prove your innocence?  How far would you go under the direction of the law?  How far is too far before you question your own morals and scruples?  Okay.  Well, maybe it’s not that simple after all, but I’ll tell you this.  It makes one hell of a great feature that I can’t wait to revisit again on January 8th.   So acquaint yourself with this gem’s trailer and synopsis below, pre-order a copy and make sure to check out our exclusive interview with Compliance‘s producer Tyler Davidson over here.  Enjoy! MIB3 Movie Touch First-Screen Immersive Experience Now Available

This year has seen the release of several apps related to the big blockbuster films of the year.  Films like The Avengers, The Dark Knight and The Amazing Spider-Man have all gotten apps that directly relate to their Blu-ray releases, giving viewers the ability to sync up their smartphone or tablet devices to their Blu-ray players and access all sorts of exclusive content.  It has been an interesting sort of experiment in terms of making the home viewing experience more interactive for the viewer.  Now Men In Black 3 has been given similar treatment, but in a slight twist on the idea, the Men In Black 3 Movie Touch app allows you to only view all the exclusive content, while watching the film on a portable device of some kind.  Given that I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Men In Black 3 (Review HERE), I was happy to try this experience out.  Continue on to learn more about the details of the MIB3 Movie Touch app.

IDW and 2000 AD Take DREDD Back to YEAR ONE!

Though Judge Joseph Dredd’s exploits have changed the post-apocalyptic sprawl of Mega-City One forever, there was a Mega-City One before Dredd ever hopped aboard a Lawmaster. In March 2013’s JUDGE DREDD: YEAR ONE, Eagle Award-winning 2000 AD Editor-in-Chief Matt Smith takes up arms with Dredd veterans Simon Coleby on interiors and Greg Staples on covers to deliver the thrilling exploits of a younger Judge Dredd! One would be hard pressed to call the young Dredd “fresh-faced” or “eager,” but there is certainly a learning curve to policing Mega-City One’s vast and vicious criminal element. This thrilling period of Dredd’s career was previously explored by Smith in Judge Dredd: Year One – City Fathers, the hit e-novella published by 2000 AD earlier this year, but was immediately recognized as an avenue perfectly suited for a different story told through a comic-book miniseries.   Continue reading ‘IDW and 2000 AD Take DREDD Back to YEAR ONE!’

Become Infinite With ‘THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER’ on Blu-ray & DVD on February 12th

So here’s a film that I know connected with a lot of people that were able to see it in theaters and will probably connect with those who seek it out on Blu-ray, when it arrives this coming February.  The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a wonderful coming-of-age film, with nice performances all around, and it hits shelves on Blu-ray and DVD on February 12, 2013.  It is a film based on the best-selling novel from author Stephen Chbosky, who actually wrote and directed the film as well.  From the reaction it received, the film seems to be in line to take up the mantle as one of the best films about surviving in high school, akin to some of the work from John Hughes, among others (I’ll support Rushmore in this case).  I know I certainly liked it (review HERE).  From what I can tell, the Blu-ray does not seem to be lacking in more content to explore, regarding the film and those involved in bringing the novel to life.  Read on to learn more about this upcoming Blu-ray release. ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Preview In IMAX This December

This is certain to excite a few people.  While I am a Star Wars guy through and through, I certainly cannot deny that Star Trek is one of the things that will get the masses excited, especially now that J.J. Abrams had a hand in reinvigorating the franchise with his 2009 reboot.  So for anyone asking themselves, “Hey, where’s the sequel at already?” here is the chance to find out what is in store for them, as a 9-minute sneak preview will be arriving in IMAX 3D theaters on December 14th.  This should be especially nice for those already planning on seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on opening night, as they will be getting this special bonus with their film, much like how The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were given the same treatment.  The Star Trek footage will be the first 9 minutes of the highly anticipated film and it will be exclusively shown in Digital IMAX 3Dtheaters worldwide on that date.  Continue on to find the full press release with all the details. Now Updated with the First Official Poster, Continue reading ‘‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Preview In IMAX This December’
