WORLD-PREMIERE OF ‘LOVESICK’ OPENS THE 15th ANNUAL NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL ON THURSDAY, APRIL 24

nbff thumb 2014So it begins.  For the past few years I have been covering the annual Newport Beach Film Festival and the time is upon us for me to get really busy covering it again.  Staring April 24th, I will be doing my part to attend the festival, which includes hitting up parties (poor me), putting some eyes on the red carpet now and again, maybe talking with some stars and filmmakers, but most importantly – seeing a lot of movies (many in the same day) and providing reviews for everything I get to see.  Last year I took a different approach, which proved to be much more efficient, so I plan to continue that this year and hopefully see even more films.  While the festival does not start for another couple of weeks, this post and the next post concern the announcement of the opening and closing films for the 15th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival.  Continue on to find out more.

Newport Beach, CA (March 31, 2014) – The 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) proudly announces the World Premiere LOVESICK as its Opening Night film. The red carpet screening of LOVESICK will take place on Thursday, April 24th, 2014 at 7:30pm at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive) followed by a gala reception at Fashion Island (401 Newport Center Drive). The 15th annual NBFF will run from April 24th – May 1st, 2014.

Directed by Luke Matheny, written by Dean Young, and produced by Michael Roiff, Travus Pope, and Josh Goldstein LOVESICK tells the comic tale of Charlie Darby (Matt LeBlanc), a man who seemingly has everything going for him; however, the one thing that Charlie does not have is love. Every time Charlie begins to fall for a girl, his brain chemistry changes causing him to become clinically insane.

When Charlie meets Molly Kingston (Ali Larter), a former dancer who just might be his perfect match, he is confronted with the consequences of his condition; however, with the help of his friend Jason (Adam Rodriguez) and the often misguided advice from his wacky neighbor, Lester (Chevy Chase), Charlie must find a way to overcome his psychosis to claim his chance at true love.

“Having been born and raised in Orange County, This is a very special homecoming for me. It is an honor for LOVESICK to open the 15th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival,” said Josh Goldstein, one of the films producers.

Following the screening, the Festival will host an Opening Night gala at Fashion Island presented by Fashion Island and Esquire Magazine. The gala will feature culinary tastings from 35 of Orange County’s premiere restaurants and surprise entertainment.
