17th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival Announcement

The 17th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival is arriving this week (April 21-28th) and they have hundreds of films to present. This year, NBFF is proud to announce its Opening Night Film, the world- premiere of After The Reality starring Matthew Morrison and Sarah Chalke and Closing Night Film, The Fixer starring Dominic Rains and James Franco. I will be in attendance to cover as many films at the festival as I can and post my thoughts here. WORLD PREMIERE OF AFTER THE REALITY TO OPEN THE 17th ANNUAL NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL ON THURSDAY, APRIL 21

The 2016 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) proudly announces AFTER THE REALITY as its Opening Night film. The screening of AFTER THE REALITY will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:30pm at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive) followed by a gala reception at Fashion Island (401 Newport Center Drive). The 17h annual NBFF will run from April 21 – April 28, 2016.

AFTER THE REALITY tells the story of Scottie Olson (MATTHEW MORRISON) who escapes to the dating reality TV show “Young Bucks” when his father becomes terminally ill. But after his father’s death, Scottie is forced to quit the show and reunite at the family cabin with his estranged sister Kate (Sarah Chalke), creating a funny and poignant story about loss, reality show romance, and a brother and sister’s love.

“We are thrilled to have such a dynamic film starring an Orange County Native, Matthew Morrison, open the 17th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival,” stated Gregg Schwenk, CEO, Executive Director, and Founder of the Newport Beach Film Festival.

“This film is an incredibly personal story and to premiere it on opening night at such an esteemed festival like Newport Beach, is a dream come true. AFTER THE REALITY will make you laugh and cry,” stated AFTER THE REALITY director David Anderson.

Following the screening, the Festival will host an Opening Night gala at Fashion Island presented by Fashion Island, LA Times and Tito’s Vodka. The gala will feature culinary tastings from 25 of Orange County’s premiere restaurants, hosted bar by Tito’s Vodka and Stella Artois Beer with a special performance from KÀ by Cirque du Soleil at MGM Grand Las Vegas.

Tickets to the Opening Night screening and gala are $225 each and are available at www.NewportBeachFilmFest.com starting April 1.  Patrons can also purchase tickets to the Opening Night gala only for $175 each. Guests must be at least 21 years old and cocktail attire is highly recommended.

The Newport Beach Film Festival will showcase more than 350 films from 50 countries and host nightly special events, red carpet galas, compelling conversations with filmmakers, international spotlight events and seminars. The Festival offers filmgoers unique opportunities to mingle with celebrities, filmmakers from around the globe and film industry professionals in a beautiful seaside locale.

2016 NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUCES CLOSING NIGHT FILM AND CELEBRATION

17th Annual Festival to Close with The Fixer

Starring Dominic Rains, James Franco, Rachel Brosnahan and Melissa Leo

The Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) proudly announces its Closing Night film and celebration. The Festival will end its eight-day run with the Southern California premier of THE FIXER on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 7:30pm at Regency Lido Live (3459 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA). Following the screening, the Newport Beach Film Festival, in partnership with Modern Luxury and Via Lido Plaza, will host the Closing Night Celebration at Via Lido Plaza (3425 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA). The outdoor event will feature culinary creations from top Orange County’s restaurants, hosted bar by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Stella Artois, live entertainment and a special fashion presentation from Ted Baker London.

THE FIXER tells the story of a former Afghan journalist (Dominic Rains) who settles in a small town in Northern California and takes a job with a local newspaper.  However, when he attempts to cover local crime, he stumbles into local corruption that puts himself and others in danger.

Tickets to the Closing Night Film and Celebration are $95 and can be purchased in advance at the Festival’s website. The minimum age for guests is 21 years old.
