While this summer is packed with superhero and comic book movies, including Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, there still is room for Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as one of the most popular mutants around, Wolverine. The Wolverine is the latest adventure for old man Logan, taking place after the events of all of the previous X-Men films and setting itself in Japan. The story is based in part on one of the most famous comic arcs for the character, developed by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. While X-Men Origins: Wolverine left many fans disappointed, The Wolverine looks like a step in a much better direction. Continue on to see the new trailer as well as a batch of very cool, character-based posters.

Not a whole lot of new to share with this one, but Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is arriving this December and I can only imagine more clips of the film will begin to flood the internet soon enough. With that said, posted below is a new teaser trailer, which resembles the first, but with some alternate lines of dialogue. It is humorous enough, as I enjoy these characters and am hoping that these guys are smart enough to know how to make a sequel that is less a repeat of the first film (ahem…Hangover Part II) and more of something completely different, as well as completely ridiculous. Regardless, the film arrives this winter and you can check out the new teaser trailer in this post.

Following The Mist, I was also able to attend another very entertaining scheduled event at the Hero Complex Film Festival, a back-to-back screening of the The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth. Both are films written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, who provided an hour-long Q&A in between features. For anyone who is familiar with Guillermo del Toro, they would know that he is one of the most entertaining directors to listen to, as he is always full of passion for his projects and isn’t one to censor himself (not to mention his wonderful Mexican accent). This entire conversation has been recorded and provided in a link. Read on to learn more about what he had to say about his past films, his career as a filmmaker, his personal life, and his upcoming feature films, most notably Pacific Rim (Post Updated with latest Pacific Rim trailer).

I was happy to be able to attend the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood this year and check out a few of the events that were on the lineup. For me, the first scheduled event that I took part in was a screening of The Mist (an original 35mm print) followed by a Q&A. Initially I was led to believe that only writer/director Frank Darabont would be in attendance, but I was happy to see that star Tom Jane was also on hand to discuss this 2007 horror film. As a big fan of The Mist, I was very excited to check out the film with an audience, my first time on the big screen since Thanksgiving 2007 (an amazing release date for this of all films). Read on to learn more about what went down at this Q&A, as well as find the entire recording of this conversation.

Ender’s Game has continued to seem like one of those things that would just never happen. I am a huge fan of the award-winning novel by Orson Scott Card, but given the challenge that the story represents in creating a film that could really work, I can see why the film has remained in development hell for so long. Well, now the wait is finally over, as the film is set to come out this November and now we have the first trailer for the film. As always, anything could happen, but given the look of the film and the cast involved, I am quite pleased with being excited for this upcoming feature. Continue on to check out the first official trailer for the film.

As much as I had my reservations about seeing this film in the theaters, I actually enjoyed it for what it was. It never took itself too seriously and it had a little something special at the end that put a grin on my face. Say what you want about The Call…it just ain’t that bad as all you naysayers who haven’t seen it make it out to be. So with that being said, why don’t you join Oscar Winner Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin and Morris Chestnut this June 25th when The Call makes its Blu-ray and DVD debut. Make sure you pre-order now and check out the full press release below from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Continue reading ‘Take ‘The Call’ on Blu-ray This June’

Hey. I’m not too proud to admit it, time is short in this universe. There’s a lot of things going on in one’s life. We all work full time jobs and pursue our passion and hobbies in our free time. Why So Blu started as a hobby for me back in 2008, but thanks to a good friend, Gregg Senko, and three kick a$$ writers later, Gerard Iribe, Sean Ferguson and Aaron Neuwirth, the site grew into so much more. We have a need for another writer to help out around the site, write reviews, cover screenings and/or events whenever possible and help promote and grow our site on popular social media platforms. Are you a regular reader or fan of our site? Think this would be something you’d be interested in? Well if so, by all means keep on reading! It is now time for me to get very busy again, as the Newport Beach Film Festival has returned. From April 25th to May 2nd, the 14th annual Newport Beach Film Festival will be in full swing and I will be there to provide whatever coverage I can. As always, the festival takes place in beautiful Newport Beach, right along the coast. Over 350 films from over 50 countries will be screened during the week with special nightly events, galas, seminars, and more. Additionally, the Newport Beach Film Festival offers film goers the opportunity to meet the filmmakers. Directors, screenwriters, actors, and more are all eager to share their work and will provide an exclusive inside look at the industry during post-screening Q&A’s. That is a lot going on in the world of film for Orange County this coming week.

House of Cards is the Neflix Original series that held many people’s attention during it exciting new release period onto Netflix a couple months ago. Originally released in its entirety, complete with the involvement of a star-studded cast and crew, I was really happy to dive right away into this series and was even given the chance to talk about it with the crew from Just Seen It (found HERE). Here is a brief synopsis of the series: Ruthless and cunning, Congressman Francis Underwood (Spacey) and his wife Claire (Wright) stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama penetrates modern Washington D.C.’s shadowy world of greed, sex, and corruption. Kate Mara and Corey Stoll costar in the first original series from David Fincher and Beau Willimon. Now everyone who does not use Netflix’s Instant service will have the chance to check out the series on Blu-ray, come June 11th. Read on to learn more about this upcoming Blu-ray release.

The mighty Thor returns to the big screen this November, but right now we have the first trailer. We at Why So Blu disagree about the merit of a lot of movies, but Thor seemed to be the film that we could all agree was good (some argue great). Now Thor 2: Still Thor is on its way, which has many excited. Here’s a brief plot synopsis: Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Continue on the view the all new teaser trailer for Thor: The Dark World, as well as the new poster and first official images. Updated with a couple more images and YouTube Trailer Link.

On July 30th, everyone will get a chance to see an all new DC Universe Animated Original Movie. I already had the chance to see the upcoming Superman: Unbound, which I found to be quite good (Review HERE) and frankly, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has been putting out some quality features in this department for quite some time now. Getting a chance to see a story that revolves around Flash and fellow members of the Justice League already has me excited. Here is some of the press release: The world is turned upside down as one of earth’s greatest super heroes – Flash – wakes up devoid of his super powers in the all-new Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox – the next entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC Universe Original Animated Movies. Produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, this all-new, PG-13 rated film arrives July 30, 2013 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-Ray, DVD. and Digital Download. Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.
