Mortal Kombat: Legacy – Ep. 6 – Raiden

This week’s episode of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series is a return to form for what many people were expecting upon first seeing the short film, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which debuted last year online. It is a gritty portrayal of one of the most popular Mortal Kombat characters, set within the confines of the real world, despite having some fantastical elements. This episode is all about Raiden, god of thunder, who arrives on earth, within the walls of a mental institution. What follows is a pretty effective and dramatic 10 minutes (minus credits), which has Raiden going through some rough treatment as he is forced to suffer at the hands of doctors who think he is crazy. Probably my favorite episode yet in this oddly intriguing series. Enjoy:

WOW! My favorite one yet! Although the Mileena/Kitana episodes were both a close second. I want to see Reptile!

So much better than the last two! Interesting!

Didn’t care for this one. What was the point?

With that logic, besides the previous two, which were about backstory, what’s the point of any of these.

In the sense of not propelling the story forward in anyway. After episode 2 the pacing of the series have gone downhill fast. 1 & 2 are my favorite.

If the series was called “Jax Vs. Kano” than I would agree, but how did 1 and 2 propel the story of Mortal Kombat forward any more than this episode about Raiden? Everyone knows that each of these characters is just on their own personal journey of fighting in a tournament. If anything, the Johnny Cage episode is the only one that actually established some sort of running arc, and that was the worst one.
