Kickstarter: ALEXUS by Anton Troy & Choice Skinner
I have been a long time supporter of Chillerama actor ever since I met him at Comic-Con last year. Not only is he a really cool guy, performer and actor, but he’s also quite the humanitarian who is always willing to help the world any way he can. You got to admire that quality in an up and coming star. I recently followed up with Anton after learning about his newest project called ALEXUS that’s currently on Kickstarter. I wanted to find out everything I could about what he’s developing and asked him if he would’t mind sharing it with our readers. Tony Germinario of Vincenzo Productions, LLC wrote the film’s screenplay, which is described as “Die Hard and Lethal Weapon meets The Fifth Element.”
The film will be shot in September in Los Angeles and will be produced by Troy, Skinner and Jackson.
The Objective:
Anton, Choice, Farley and screenwriter Tony Germinario all grew up as hard core action buffs, enthusiastically racing to the theater to experience the thrill of watching their favorite heros save the world from impending doom. The ALEXUS film project was created out of our love for actions films particularly those cliff hanging, tongue-in-cheek films from the 80’s and 90’s. Our goal is to create a loving 30 minute homage to what we feel are the best aspects of the genre. We pride ourselves on having a powerful diverse cast of actors along with crew members comprised of seasoned professionals and fresh new talent. Working together we will create a high caliber original production that tests our ideas of what it is to be a hero. This short will be a springboard to pitch ALEXUS as a full length feature film and brings the action genre a fresh point of view. Here is a brief synopsis of “Alexus”:
Anton stars as Gideon, an impulsive, brooding undercover detective, who, along with his watchful veteran partner Daniels (Skinner) must infiltrate the stronghold of Russian kingpin Ivan (George Vincent) to recover a mysterious package from what appears to be a routine drug deal. Everything goes smoothly until Gideon is gunned down and nearly killed during an unsuccessful negotiation. In the encounter, the thugs become suspicious and want to know what’s so special about their newly intercepted merchandise. Awakening in a pool of blood, and driven by a rage for justice, Gideon is forced to sacrifice everything — including the love of his life, his partner and his sanity — in a desperate effort to retrieve a package that he alone knows is far more precious than himself and maybe even the world.
The piece is a 30-minute short that the producers are planning to turn into a feature. A three issue graphic novel is also being made.
