‘Looper’ Has Its Trailer Debut
I am not one to normally post trailers on the site, given that we are more focused on the review side of things and the in-depth coverage that goes along with that; however, when I was covering WonderCon 2012, I made mention of the film Looper, a new time travel flick that I am really excited for. At the time, there was nothing available in the way of posting, beyond my description of the panel and a few images. Now, in the past week, a trailer and a poster for the film have debuted. Given that I stated I wanted to provide an update when a trailer was made available in this article HERE, now is the time I fulfill that promise. Again, Looper is the new time travel film from writer/director Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom), which stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt. While there are plenty of much more high-profile films coming very soon and throughout the summer, Looper is a fall release that is very high on my list of films to see as well. Continue on to see the trailer and the poster for the film.
Here is a synopsis for the film:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. The film arrives in theaters September 28, 2012.
Official Teaser Trailer:
While the trailer does reveal various, albeit brief, bits of action, I was more happy to see that it is mainly the premise that is detailed in this trailer and not much in the way of plot. That said, I do enjoy seeing some moments of visual flair with how the look of the film is being handled. I also enjoy seeing how the attempt has been made to have Joseph Gordan-Levitt resemble a young Bruce Willis. I am also excited simply because there are people I like that are involved with this film and it is a new and intriguing take on a science fiction story. I am looking forward to learning more about the film and eventually seeing it this fall.
