Although I wanted so badly to be part of this unfortunately we were unable to make this year’s Scream Awards. However, we do have the list of winner’s announced from last night’s slashing show. For those of you who don’t know, the Reaper Awards took place last night at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles and was presented by Home Media Magazine and DreadCentral.com. The winners at the ceremony take home awards known affectionately as “Grimmys.” Without further ado I present to you the winners of the 2009 Reaper Awards.
The boxed set of Hellraiser won the top honor at the first-ever Reaper Awards, earning Best of Show as well as Best Packaging and Best Re-mastering for Anchor Bay Entertainment.
The announcement came at a red carpet gala awards dinner and cocktail party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 13. The 2009 Reaper Awards were presented by Home Media Magazine and DreadCentral.com.
In addition to Best of Show, the ceremony revealed the winners in 14 categories as voted by consumers in an online vote. A blue-ribbon panel of judges comprised of top names in the horror industry selected finalists in each of the categories from titles released between Sept. 1, 2008, and Aug. 31, 2009. The Best Slasher Award went to two recipients this year, Laid to Rest from Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Last House on the Left from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment/MGM.
The Reaper Awards also honored industry veteran Michael Felsher with a lifetime achievement award, marking his work on special features and ability to make them truly unique.
