Shakira Brings Sexy Back with She Wolf

Before the world of High-Definition and Blu-ray ever existed the majority of my life was devoted to music.  Not only was I an avid fan of my favorite musical acts, but I also participated and dabbled in the lifestyle as well.  Yes, in my past life I fronted a few bands.  So it gives me great joy, from time-to-time, to revisit my roots and bring to this site some current music news and happenings.  Of course, I can’t be held responsible if it just so happens that the majority of the music stories curiously happen to be about some of my favorite artists and bands.  As the site grows, don’t worry, we will start covering a wider scope of artists and genre.  I promise.

Anyway, I was on the topic of favorite musical artists was I not?  Well, it just so happens that my favorite sexy Columbian singer/songwriter/musician Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is preparing to roll out a new album, called She Wolf, in the US on November 23rd.  So who better to promote it than me?  I personally take the responsibility of doing so.  My first memories of Shakira take me back to the not so distant time of circa 2001.  It was an ex who was surprised when she found out that I did not know who Shakira was and made me tune into her Saturday Night Live performance of “Whenever, Wherever.”  It was at that exact moment, that I knew before anyone else in the world did…Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie.”  I would be recumbent if I said I did not go back and revisit that performance a couple hundred times on the VCR.  Ha ha…that’s right…I said VCR.  C’mon…it was 2001!

 

So anyway, let’s get back on the topic of her new album that will be dropping soon, She Wolf.  And guys…don’t let those images above or below distract you.  Or at least try not to.  For some strange reason it appears that She Wolf is released all around the world already except for here in the States.  I believe the reason for the delay in the US is because of an exclusive track that will be appearing on the CD release, but I could be wrong.  However, I don’t think there are many people out there that have not already seen, heard or gotten a taste of Shakira’s first single “She Wolf.”  Just in case you have been living under a rock for the past couple months I graciously embedded the “She Wolf” music video for you down below.  You’re welcome!  There’s one word that describes the video…HOT! 

Call me crazy, but it’s just hard to resist Shakira in the many compromising positions we find her in within the music video.  I admit to not being the biggest fan of the song initially, but after a few listens I quickly came around.  I mean, it’s Shakira after all!  However, it was not until this past weekend that I truly discovered the raw and energetic properties of the song “She Wolf.”  Upon hearing the opening driving bass line of the song, our own editor, Gregg Senko, ignited a spark out on the dance floor at the Halloween festivities we were part of at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH.  Dressed in his authentic black Spider-Man costume (you can check it out here) he brought life to the dance floor, as only he can, injecting an onslaught of raw energy and eventual participation among the numerous bystanders waiting to get a piece of the action.  That my friends, is the power of “She Wolf.”  If only one song is that powerful, then I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!

However, it was recently confirmed on Shakira’s official website (Shakira.com) that the next US single will be a new track, “Give It Up To Me,” which was produced by Timbaland and features Lil Wayne.  It will be included on the special US version of the She Wolf album.  I do not have confirmation as to whether there is a special edition or if it refers to the original US CD release.  If more information develops I will keep you posted.  You can listen to the new track right now on Shakira’s MySpace player.
