The Daily Blu…August 19, 2009
I’m sorry for the late hour in which today’s daily Blu-ray news is being posted. I just got back from my third DLP screening of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. I sat there like a kid mesmerized with a new lollipop as Sienna Miller’s Baroness character sprayed bullets like a bad-a#$ in every which direction. What an awesome way to spend an evening! Oh well…YES!…The daily Blu-ray news! The best news of the day, in my opinion, especially since I only have two items to report on is that Universal has issued a press statement announcing a Blu-ray release date of October 13th for Sam Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell. The film stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long, and if you have not seen this one yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. It was an exciting return to the horror genre from director Sam Raimi that was both hysterical and scary at the same time. The Blu-ray release will include both a Theatrical and an Unrated Director’s Cut version of the film. You can expect to find the usual 1080P treatment along with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio surround track. The only other news we have today comes from the Sony Blu-ray camp. They changed the Blu-ray release date for Fred Dekker’s horror film Night of the Creeps: Director’s Cut. The Blu-ray, which was originally scheduled to be released on October 20th, will now be coming out one week later on October 27th.
