Why So Blu Gets Ringside With Rocktagon This Weekend
This Saturday, MMA and Why So Blu collide once again as the former Cage Stars brand, now under the Rocktagon, brings us another high octane fight card to the masses on November 20th. You may remember this past June when Why So Blu covered the arrival of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who flew all the way up from Brazil to make an appearance at a multi-bout event. Silva won’t be around this time, but it’s the sight of the sport that truly draws fans in anyway and there’ll be plenty of sport to be had. You can bet there’s another foundation-shaking fight card ready for this weekend. Check out the press release below, courtesy of Rocktagon and Big Shock Media:
Ohio based mixed martial arts fight promotion Rocktagon MMA, formerly known as CageStars, is proud to present the first Amateur MMA event under the Rocktagon name. “Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series 1” is stacked with some of the top Amateur MMA talent on the East Coast. The event will take place on Saturday, November 20, at Midway Mall in Elyria, Ohio.
According to Lorenzo Gentile, president of Rocktagon MMA, “We are very excited about our first event under the Rocktagon MMA name. The fight card is stacked with top local talent and features two very compelling amateur title fights. This is going to be an action packed night of fights that MMA fans in Ohio will not want to miss!”
In the main event the Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series middleweight title is on the line and CageStars veteran Jose Martinez has his eye on the championship belt. Standing in his way is Darnell Hicks, a highly skilled MMA fighter out of Troy, Ohio. In the Co-main event Mike Maderitz will face Cy Stephens for the Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series lightweight title.
Jose Martinez (4-2-0) is a well-rounded mixed martial artist who trains out of Elyria, Ohio. Prior to his transition into MMA, Martinez claimed two regional boxing championship titles in the Junior Olympics and garnered National attention during his wrestling career at Southview High.
His opponent Darnell Hicks (5-4-0) is a self-taught mixed martial artist known for his aggressive fight style. Hick’s possesses raw talent and has never been knocked out in the cage. Martinez plans to add a KO loss to Hicks record on Saturday night. This promises to be an explosive fight from start to finish!
