The Future is Always in Motion – New Details on the Star Wars Saga’s Blu-rays! Updated with Cover Art!

Today as part of Star Wars Day, Lucasfilm finally spilled the beans on the details on the upcoming Star Wars Blu-ray box sets.  While I don’t think they’ve told us everything, there is still a lot to be excited about.  They will now be in 6.1 DTS Surround Sound and there’s over forty hours of special features!  There’s still no word on whether or not the original theatrical editions will be included or not, but hopefully that’s something they are saving as a surprise for later.  I’m sure there will be more information given at Comic-Con this year, but there’s still been a lot of cool things revealed today! Take a look at the details below and May the Fourth Be With You!

Updated to include the actual cover art for the upcoming Blu-ray sets!

  1. Aaron Neuwirth

Kind of speechless about how epic this set will be.

  2. Sean Ferguson

I can’t wait!! This complete set is totally worth $90!

  3. Brian White

    Hella yeah!

I just wish they would tell us or not if there are any new tinkerings here. Like I thought the Luke extended lightsaber scene would be cut into Rotj and digital Yoda in Ep. 1. I hope!!!

  4. Sean Ferguson

I’m willing to bet that there will be more changes made to the films since Lucas has tweaked every single release so far. And despite popular opinion, I think almost all of his changes were good. Some of his changes like adding Jabba to Star Wars need to be redone though. I hope the Episode 1 Yoda gets replaced too.

  5. Jiminy Critic

I’m gonna need a bigger screen!

  6. Brian White

I’m actually a fan of “most” of his changes too Sean and I hope he has plenty more for us. I don’t want those white boxes around my tie fighters in episode 4 and I want the wampas arm fully clothed in empire.

  7. Gregg

WOW! Brilliant stuff here!! I hope they get rid of that horrible song and dance from the special edition ROTJ in Jabba’s palace (along with removing Hayden’s spectral image from the end of ROTJ too). As for these extras, wow, amazing. So much to take in here! Hey nice Tsuneo Sanda print at the end. I have one signed by him.

  8. Gerard Iribe

    Gregg, that’ll never happen. 🙁

  9. Brian White

I debated this a long time ago and Hayden needs to be there at end of Jedi. That’s when his physical but was lost to the Dark Side. He was never an old man. He was a hideously scarred 50 year old under there.

  10. Sean Ferguson

I don’t mind him being there but I wish they would refilm it so he doesn’t look so creepy standing there.
