Come this March, the title of the post may need to be altered to “Best Picture Winner”, but regardless, one of the best and most important films of 2013 comes to Blu-ray on February 18th. 12 Years A Slave tells the true story of Solomon Northrup, a man kidnapped and forced into slavery in the south. This harrowing journey, based on Northrup’s actual memoir, directed with incredible precision by Steve McQueen, and featuring a tremendous cast, the film has been rightfully given heaps of praise and while it can be a tough film to watch, it is certainly one worth investing time in.
