Rambo: The Complete SteelBook Collection (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)
Rambo: The Complete SteelBook Collection may not be a necessity due to the double dipping nature of it all, but for the right fan it’s a very much appreciated way to house all the Rambo films on 4K Ultra HD Disc in 5 separate collectible steelbook arrangements within one hard shell vessel. Yes I know that was a long sentence. However, talking about Rambo movies makes me excited! The 5-movie set also comes with original art by some of today’s most celebrated illustrators (we’ll show you around in much more detail down below) featuring five uniquely designed steelbooks by Justin Erickson, Ken Taylor, Grzegorz Domaradzki, Vance Kelly, and John Guydo, housed in a large, custom SteelBook case. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this the collection features all five action-packed Rambo films including First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, Rambo, and Rambo: Last Blood. This was released on October 27th. We just got our review copy! And I’m very excited to show you all around. Read on!
This is not going to be your conventional 4K UHD/Blu-ray Review you’re accustomed to on the site here. I also do not feel the need to discuss the Rambo movies in any detail. You know what they are or else you wouldn’t even be here. The character of John Rambo is a legend in the action genre. The movies themselves are some of the most iconic, celebrated and cheesy 80’s war/action movies of their time (the cheese referring to the second and third at least). The first was a masterpiece according to the universal laws as defined by yours truly. And the fourth entry…well…it proved that despite his older age Sylvester Stallone definitely wasn’t done with this character in a very big way.
Hopefully with all that verbiage behind us now you can clearly see why there’s really no need to deep dive any further on the subject of Rambo. Simply put you either love the Rambo movies or you don’t. Therefore, I’m going to make this very easy on you. You’re all here to figure out whether this luxurious, Best Buy exclusive steelbook collection is worth the double dip. That’s ultimately for you to decide, but I’m going to do my best to show you around in grave detail. Along the way I’ll also reference and hot link all the 4K UHD Blu-ray Reviews of each title here on the site for your convenience. Let’s get started!
Up first I want to tackle some proverbial housekeeping. Each steelbook within contains both 1080p Blu-ray and 4K UHD Discs within. You’ll see those in the photos down below. Also, you can deduce then that they are all packed with the Special Features from all five Rambo film releases, including Deleted Scenes, Exclusive Featurettes, Theatrical Trailers, Audio Commentaries and much more! You can also count on the fact that all the reviews we are linking to down below here contain every single thing you need to know about each release: audio, video, extras and our own commentary. See I told you! I have you covered here.
In addition there is a redemption code to obtain all 5 films digitally in 4K UHD. Since this is a Lionsgate release please be aware this does not work on Movies Anywhere. All movies can be redeemed once in either iTunes, VUDU or FandangoNOW. There is a much welcome surprise here though! The Extended Cut of Last Blood is provided here as it’s own separate redemption code. It would have been amazing to have that on 4K UHD Disc, but I’ll take what I can get. You can always give me more Rambo please!

First up I wanted to capture this in all its shrink wrapped glory like you would have just brought it home from Best Buy. As I walk you through every angle of this release please excuse the reflections caused by the plastic. Remember to click on the below thumbnails to open for maximum viewing pleasure. And yes I am completely aware that there’s a dent in the outer steelbook housing and a slash across the spine of the 4th steelbook case. It’s a review copy so I’m completely fine with it. However, if you’re anal like me, make sure to inspect your copy before opening. I’m just trying to protect your investment.

Alright! Let’s take that wrapper off so this set can breathe! I’ve included the below three shots to show you what the front of this collection looks like under the plastic, the spines of the individual steelbook cases and what it looks like when they are out (or how they slide in). They are tight to grab and pull out so be careful so you don’t damage them (some people don’t know their own strength). The digital codes for the films, including the Extended Cut of Last Blood, are all housed in the First Blood steelbook case. I’ll show you the packaging of each individual steelbook down below under the respective movie it relates to.
