Interview with Hatchet II’s Adam Green

One of the most exciting things about attending Comic-Con each year is you never know who you are going to run into and meet there.  With that being said, the highlight of Comic-Con 2010 for me was meeting Writer/Director/Producer Adam Green (see here).  It was very much unplanned.  And like most things in life, I believe fateful encounters happen for a reason.  This was one of them.  Not only did I meet one of the nicest people in Hollywood, but I was introduced to a man that I have nothing but the utmost respect for in life. A man who is sincere in his words and undeniably true to his fans.  He is the “Dee Snider” in my life (Adam will get that).  So anyway, when I recently was asked to take a few moments to interview Mr. Green, naturally I jumped at the chance.  Instead of being my usual scripted self, I stuck with a more conversational tone in the below interview you are about to listen to.  I debated briefly about typing all this up, but I questioned whether that would be the right thing to do.  I mean, when Moses came down from the mountain to tell his followers about the Ten Commandments, did he type all his thoughts out?  Of course he didn’t.  And the same principle applies here.  I want people who are unfamiliar with Adam and his work to hear the guy’s sincerity.  I want them to hear first hand how nice and conversational this guy really is.  He’s a rare commodity in the world of Hollywood, and I am elated to know him.

So before we begin with the interview…it should be duly noted that this coming Tuesday, February 1st is a very special day for all of us horror fans.  It’s that day that Victor Crowley in Adam Green’s Hatchet II unleashes hell on Blu-ray and DVD in all its “Unrated” glory as it was intended to be shown.  As mentioned in the below audio interview, if you were among 95% of the population who did not get a chance to see this film theatrically (a mute point considering the debacle that happened with it…but it’s over and we have all since moved on) and you did not want your first time seeing it to be some crappy form of streaming VOD, then this is a big day for you.  As it is for me.  I remember in my youth how I excited I got and how I  treated every new Kiss album release much like a holiday…a momentous occasion of joy and exuberance.  So has the Blu-ray releases of Adam Green features become for me.  February 1st is truly a day when all of us old school American horror fans can stand up and unite under one common ground…Adam’s original vision breathtakingly captured in all its unrated 1080p glory.  In the words of Drowning Pool…”Let the bodies hit the floor!”

Alright, you did not come here read my long bloated words.  You came here to hear the man of the hour speak.  So without further ado…I present to you my unedited conversation with Adam Green yesterday.  Listen closely as he tackles important social and economic issues affecting our country such as the Blu-ray release of Hatchet II, his upcoming project Killer Pizza, what makes the guy tick and most importantly…his love for all things Star Wars.  Gotta love the guy.  Thanks Adam!
