The Daily Blu…November 12, 2009
It has been a slow week for Blu-ray news so that is why you have not seen me up until now. And with that being said, I am ready to take the news out of the proverbial oven and start serving. So first up, we have an announcement that I am sure will please many fans of this summer’s sci-fi sleeper hit. In a surprise announcement, Sony has pushed up the Blu-ray release date, by one week, for District 9. Instead of the 29th, it will now see a December 22nd release, just in time for your Christmas stockings. I wish Fox would do the same now for Jennifer’s Body!
But wait! That’s not it for Sony. They also announced they will be bringing Beyonce’s latest concert to Blu-ray on December 15th. The title is a long one. Are you ready? The Blu-ray concert is called I Am…Yours, An Intimate Perfrmance at Wynn Las Vegas. I’m not a Beyonce fan, but there’s no denying that her last Blu-ray concert was an amazing spectacle to behold.
Meanwhile, Fox has plans to bring the Oscar-winning films Walk The Line and The Last King of Scotland to Blu-ray on February 2nd.
Last but not least, I have Blu-ray news from one of my favorite studios, Lionsgate. They announced they will be bringing an animated adaptation of the graphic novel, Planet Hulk, to Blu-ray on February 2nd. Hulk smash!
