The explosive and violent Bangkok underworld comes to life this January when Lionsgate releases Bangkok Dangerous 2-Disc Special Edition on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Directed by the Pang Brothers (Oxide Pang and Danny Pang, Gin gwai aka The Eye) from the screenplay by Jason Richman, and starring Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas, 1995), the film is an adrenaline-charged action thriller about an anonymous assassin whose life unravels when he travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. The Hollywood Reporter praised the film stating it “...delivers for action fans” and The Advocate hailed the directors saying “The Pang brothers, besides being artisans of action and suspense, tell a good story.”
The 2-Disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc contain a standard definition digital copy of the film as well as thrilling bonus materials that include an alternate ending, cinematic movement featurette “From Hong Kong to Bangkok,” making-of featurette “Bangkok Dangerous: The Execution of the Film,” plus the theatrical trailer. The Blu-ray Disc also features MOLOG™, a BD Live application that allows users to insert and animate shapes, text, audio and other graphics right into the film as well as post “blogs” about the film to share with other registered MOLOG™ users. Based on the Pang Brothers’ wildly popular Hong Kong action film of the same name, Bangkok Dangerous follows the story of Joe (Cage), a remorseless hit man who comes to Bangkok to execute four enemies of a ruthless crime boss. He hires Kong (Shahkrit Yamnarm, Belly of the Beast), a street punk and pickpocket, to run errands for him with the intention of covering his tracks by killing him at the end of the assignment. Strangely, Joe, the ultimate lone wolf, finds himself mentoring the young man instead whilst simultaneously being drawn into a tentative romance with a local shop girl. As he falls further under the sway of Bangkok’s intoxicating beauty, Joe begins to question his isolated existence and lets down his guard …just as the crime boss decides it’s time to clean house.
