First up is IDW with their homage to Saturday morning cartoons of the 80’s. With the live action D&D film debuting this week, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon is reborn on the pages of its comic series of the same name. Billed as a ‘Saturday Morning Adventures’, the comic features the same six kids from the cartoon on yet another hair-raising journey. This time it seems the majority of the group wants nothing more than to head back home to 9th grade. The first issue is a great set-up for what’s to come.

From comics to TV show to comics, the quirky band of heroes that don’t want to be heroes kick off their own new series in Doom Patrol issue #1. Cliff Steele and crew join forces to take on the evil that awaits! This first issue also introduces new character Beast Girl.

In 1993, Marvel released Venom: Lethal Protector, the Spider-Man nemesis in his own self-titled mini-series. Thirty years later and Eddie Brock and his piggybacking symbiote arrive in, well, Venom: Lethal Protector. The first issue is chock full of action as this thing feels just a page shy of earning the ‘oversized issue’ moniker. With Silver Sable making an appearance, expect tensions to be on edge as a new organized threat looms over New York City.

Last but not least, Scout Comics brings us Granite State Punk, a one-shot about a former punk rocker and felon who returns home to New Hampshire. The hook? This guy’s got to escape the witch coven that haunts his past. This one is for mature readers so make to keep this title out of the hands of the younger rug rats.
