Exclusive Interview: The Dark Knight Rises’ India Wadsworth

Not to downplay today’s tragic events in Colorado, but it’s no secret that The Dark Knight Rises is my most anticipated movie of the decade.  I know what you’re thinking.  I’m a mind reader.  You’re thinking that’s a pretty bold statement to make considering we are only 3 years into this current decade.  But really?  What else comes close to touching it?  Avatar 2: Dancing With Wolves?  Nah.  The only thing I could think of is if they can ever pull off a ‘Justice League’ movie and not have it be an utter abomination of the senses.  But I digress because we are here today to talk all things The Dark Knight Rises, in particular as they relate to the young British actress India Wadsworth who plays the daughter of the Warlord?  I put a question mark there because a few days ago your guess was as good as mine when it comes to who that character refers to, but I guess you will all be finding out very soon so no worries.

So now…drum roll please…without further ado, let’s get our exclusive interview with the beautiful Miss India Wadsworth underway.

*

Brian: Thank you for taking time to chat with me today, India.  How are you?

India: I’m great thanks, how are you?

*

Brian: With The Dark Knight Rises finally out, how can I be anything but grand?  So anyone that knows anything about Christopher Nolan’s world of The Dark Knight Rises knows that the project is shrouded in absolute secrecy.  Despite all the many different trailers and teasers we have scene, it’s anybody’s guess as to how this one is going to conclude.  However, that mystery will be solved in just 4 short days now.  What can you tell us about The Dark Knight Rises?

India: That it’s going to be awesome!  I love that Nolan keeps the mystery surrounding the film, it generates such excitement!

*

Brian: I love your enthusiasm.  Now your character in the film is listed as the Warlord’s daughter?  Can you tell us a little more about your character, who she is and how she fits into the scheme of things?

India: I’m still waiting to find out myself, seeing the film tonight so we can wait and see!

*

Brian: I understand that when you got offered this role you were living in London.  Was your audition out there and did you know what you were reading for or was that kept in secrecy too?

India: I was completely in the dark and I had no idea that the project was The Dark Knight Rises.  The phone call I got a week afterwards with the offer for the part was so exciting!

*

Brian: This next question is a loaded one.  Having been part of the 11,000 extras in Pittsburgh football game scene, myself, how was your filming experience on The Dark Knight Rises?  Were you provided a script ahead of time?  How many days did you film?

India: OOo how was that? That scene in the trailer looks awesome!! I got my script the day of filming, and I was on set for over a week, doing stunt training, and fittings as well as filming.

*

Brian: It was a very hot day for a winter scene and I never had so many popsicles in my life, but it’s a memory I will always cherish and you better believe I’ll be freezing that Blu-ray looking for myself amongst the 11,000 screaming fans.  Now do you have any action or fight scenes or interactions with any important characters?

India: Yes, briefly with Tom Hardy, and some great stunt guys.  It was so much fun!

*

Brian: Tom Hardy is not only a phenomenal actor, in my opinion, but appears to be such a likeable guy as I heard him address and interact the audience of extras firsthand in Pittsburgh.  How was it like working alongside him?

India: That must have been so surreal seeing him as Bane and then as his normal self in such an epic setting! I thought he was lovely, and nothing like Bane – I mean who could be like Bane, ahh!!

*

Brian: The movie producer and film geek in me has to know.  How was it like working under one of my favorite directors, Christopher Nolan?  Any personal experiences you can talk about that either involves you or the way he methodically works on set?

India: He is one of my favorite directors too. I truly believe he is a genius!  And it was fascinating to watch him at work…I don’t think I ever saw him sit down, and his attention to detail is constant and amazing!

*

Brian: I agree with you one hundred percent.  So I originally saw The Dark Knight Rises at a press screening on Tuesday here in Cleveland.  A few minutes ago you mentioned you are seeing it tonight.  Did you get a chance to see it early or is tonight your first time?

India: What did you think of it?  I’m seeing it tonight…!

*

Brian: Are you kidding me?  I loved it!  You can read my review, but I have a disclaimer.  Bigger is better here.  IMAX is really the only way to see this one…if you can.  Although I’m a fan of the Avengers, I’m still hoping that Nolan topples it in sales.  What are your thoughts on the box office numbers?

India: I think it will. Although with this recent, tragic news with what happened in Colorado is horrible, it’s such a shame that the film is now shrouded in this tragedy.

*

Brian: I know.  That is so horrible.  I am at a loss for words on how tragic last night was in Colorado.  I was stunned when I woke up and read all my texts and saw the footage on CNN.  My thoughts go out to all the families and victims.  I hope last night doesn’t deter people from going to the movies this weekend whether it’s for Batman or not, this mad man cannot be allowed to win.  So on the press release, provided by your agency, it says you now reside in Venice Beach.  How does California compare to London?

India: They’re both great, but I love the California sunshine, and living by the beach is incredible.

*

Brian: When you are not making movies or modeling, what do you like to do for fun?  What makes Miss India Wadsworth tick?

India: I love going to the beach and attempting to surf…! Also when I’m home in England I spend a lot of time in Dorset horseback riding. But mostly, let me honest, I love great TV shows and movies!

*

Brian: Do you have any advice for aspiring actors or actresses who are trying to make their dreams come true in Hollywood?

India: I’m still working at it myself, so I guess it’s working really hard, and being patient for the day you get lucky!

*

Brian: I’m sure you will do just fine for yourself.  So what’s next for India Wadsworth?  Do you have any future or current projects on your plate that you want to talk about?

India: I’m shooting an indie at the end of the month, and I just got back from London shooting a comedy for the BBC.

*

Brian: Awesome!  Well I just want to say thanks on behalf of whysoblu.com for taking time out of your schedule to chat with me.  I truly appreciate it and wish you well on all your future endeavors.  Any last words for Batman founds across the country desperately hanging on every word you have to say about The Dark Knight Rises?

India: Thank you so much, I can’t wait to see it…..! 🙂

*

Brian: Thank you India.  Have a great day.
