Mortal Kombat: Legacy – Ep. 4 – Kitana & Mileena (Part 1)

This week’s episode of the Mortal Kombat web series is a nice change in pace and may be the best episode yet. It does not feature much action and the running time once again lasts a little less than 10 minutes, including credits, but we learn a lot of backstory about several classic Mortal Kombat characters. We get to see the land of Outworld for the first time, where the characters of Shao Kahn, Baraka, Mileena, Kitana and Sindel are all introduced. This episode also benefits from a change up in its style. Along with live action set pieces (which really stretch the budget, given the look of Baraka), this episode features a number of motion comic-styled animated sequences to provide for some of the more abstract designs from within Outworld. It was also nice to see this episode not retrain from Mortal Kombat-style bloody violence, which was missing from last week. Despite some flaws, I have been enjoying this series so far, and this was another step in the right direction to keep me excited for what is to come.  Enjoy!
