The Daily Blu…September 17, 2009

There’s a couple big Blu-ray news stories to report on today.  But before I do that I beg to ask the question…IS IT FRIDAY YET!!??  This week has just dragged.  Anyway, where were we?  Oh yes…Blu-ray news.  There are probably more Potter fans reading this then Stiller fans so I will start there.  Warner Brothers has announced a December 8th Blu-ray release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has declared a December 1st Blu-ray release date for Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

In other news it seems Blockbuster is going to be closing some 960 stores by 2010 and will be erecting 2000 rental kiosks by year’s end.  I’m not sure how I feel about this one.  I kind of just started to like Blockbuster again because they carry some unique collectibles in the stores from time to time.  I mean, where else could I have ever got that life-size Joker cardboard cutout from?

Last but not least, in movie news, there are already plans for a sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming superhero comedy Kick-Ass.  That’s promising!

That’s all for today.  Tomorrow…Friday is FINALLY upon us!
