The Silent House (La Casa Muda) is Coming May 11th

The Silent House aka La Casa Muda is the new horror film presented by IFC Midnight.  It’s based on the “true story” that happened in Uruguay in the late 40’s.  Laura is and her father are the inhabitants of an old house out in the countryside. After some scary events transpire during their stay Laura decides to leave. The house has other ideas.   On the surface this does look to be another haunted house tale, but haunted house tales are cool.  What separates The Silent House from the rest is not just the story, but the on how it was made.  The Silent House was shot for $6,000 in ONE 78 minute single take.  In fact, The Silent House runs JUST 78 minutes long; the length of the take!  The Silent House will be available ON DEMAND May 11th, 2011.  Here’s hoping it gets a release on the big screen soon after…or on Blu-ray!

Synopsis

Based on a true story that happened in the late 40’s in a small village in uruguay. Filmed in one single continuous shot of seventy eight minutes, “La Casa Muda” focuses on Laura, who, second by second, intends to leave a house which hides an obscure secret, unharmed.  The Silent House is a different independent film in its genre, filmed with a digital camera in one single shot, without any cuts and in real time. It’s the first horror film in the world that discovers fear without tricks in one sequence of 78 minutes. It’s also the first feature film that was completely filmed with the digital camera Canon Mark II. This camera offers extraordinary possibilities as it can shoot in high  definition real full Hd video, it transcends the limits of photography.

“See this as soon as you can! Incredible to watch. If you’re a fan of horror or want to just want to be mesmerized by a great technical achievement like this, The Silent House is a must see.”
Alex Billington, ComingSoon.net
“Miraculous…More than just an exercise, this is a stylish, handheld house-of-horrors number, which like the best examples of the genre uses suspense rather than gore to rack up the tension.”
Lee Marshall, Screen International
“A strong, compelling piece of work…The film is a remarkable exercise in atmosphere, impeccably shot.”
Todd Brown, Twitch
“Exceptionally effective. An absorbing, tense and downright terrifying experience. This is a fright flick that delivers on the scares.”
