The Sound of Music is Finally Coming to Blu-ray!
Yes, the hills will be alive with the Sound of Music this November! This is one of my all time favorite musicals (a genre that doesn’t have that many movies that interest me) and I can’t wait for this to come out. Brilliantly directed by Robert Wise, with a stellar cast, great songs and choreography, and breathtaking panoramic visuals, this is the kind of movie that Blu-ray was created for. This movie was nominated for 10 Academy awards and won Best Picture, Best Director (Robert Wise), Best Musical Score, Best Editing, and Best Sound. Julie Andrews was absolutely fantastic in this and this became one of her signature roles (the other being Mary Poppins). Christopher Plummer was also excellent in the difficult to play stern father of the children who has forgotten how to share his feelings with his children. I would also like to praise the movie’s composers Rodgers and Hammerstein who created such catchy memorable songs that they are still being enjoyed by audiences worldwide as they sing along to a special audience sing along big screen revivals. If you have never seen this, you should do yourself a favor and buy this November 2 when the Blu-ray arrives! For all of the generous extras on the disc, please take a look at the following press release…

I can honestly say that I have never seen this one before. Although, I know where that line in Moulin Rouge comes from 🙂
Never seen this. I may blind buy it.
I just found my mom’s Christmas present.
You guys should definitely watch this when it comes out. It is one of the greatest musicals of all time.
@ Gerard … I can’t believe you will blind buy this, but not see Piranha. 🙁
Piranha will not be nominated for 10 Academy awards. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll see Piranha, but it’s nothing compared to The Sound of Music. Plus, there is the added bonus of not having a severed penis thrown at your face while Julie Andrews sings My Favorite Things.
