Comic-Con 2009 Update #11 – Overture Films: Pandorum
The tagline says it all. “Don’t fear the end of the world. Fear what happens next.” All right, so maybe it does not, but while I found myself waiting in Hall H for the Kick Ass panel I was treated to a sneak preview of clips showcasing Paul Anderson’s upcoming film Pandorum. It kind of feels like Resident Evil in space if I had to sum it up in one sentence. Paul Anderson always knows how to please sci-fi action junkies so I am sure he won’t disappoint here. The plot of Pandorum pits two crewmembers together waking up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they’ve been asleep or what their mission is. They soon discover they’re actually not alone and the result is more horrifying than they could ever have imagined.
The panel lineup for Overture Films’ Pandorum consisted of producer Paul Anderson along with stars Ben Foster (X-Men: Last Stand, 3:10 to Yuma, 30 Days of Night), Cung Le (The Ultimate Fighter) and newcomer Antje Traue. Legendary actor Dennis Quaid also stars in the movie, but he was unable to make it this year. The panel consisted of a few clips and then a brief Q&A session. To be honest with you, Antje Traue reminds me an awful lot of Anderson’s iconic Resident Evil hero role infamously played by Milla Jovovich. Is it me or is there any resemblance there? Pandorum unleashes its fear in the theatres on September 18th.
