Jamie Foxx & Gerard Butler; Law Abiding Citizens

Law Abiding CitizenWhat a twisted film.  I loved it.  There is no sense in hiding my feelings for Law Abiding Citizen starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler.  I really can’t remember that last time I’d been to the theater two days in a row, but after the draining monotony of Amelia yesterday, I needed some cinematic Listerine to wash the taste out of my mouth.  I really don’t know where in the world to begin with this movie.  I just want to grab you and say, “SEE IT!” and run towards the next person so I can do the same to them.  Okay, deep breaths, weirdo.

Jamie Foxx is a Philadelphia prosecutor, and a damn good one at that.  With his 96% prosecution ratio, this boy is walking tall and he knows it.  His beautiful life takes a drastic turn when he meets a deeply distraught Clyde Shelton, played by 300‘s Gerard Butler.  Shelton’s wife and daughter are murdered and Shelton seeks revenge.  Yes, I know what you’re all thinking.  We’ve been down this road once or twice before, no?  Nope.  Not like this we haven’t.  Even after Shelton exacts vengeance, the local authorities are left scratching their heads while the city’s attorneys are powerless as Shelton is sitting in a jail cell, with the revenge killings continuing.  Before long, things get extremely out of hand as the body count starts piling up far too close to home for those working these cases.

Yes the movie has a little bit too much Hollywood in it at times, but just go see it and suspend disbelief for a couple of minutes in these few question-raising sequences.  I’m just throwing this quick blurb out there to reinforce Why So Blu’s already high marks for this film.  For a more in-depth review of the film, check out Donald Thomas’s October 22nd article here.  Go see Law Abiding Citizen this week.  You know what they say…“You can’t fight fate!”
