Johnny To’s DRUG WAR Makes Its Way To Blu-ray October 15!

Drug-WarI don’t know much about the film, but the quotes about it and the synopsis sure get me eager to see what this film has to offer.  It looks like I’ll be finding out on October 15 as Hong Kong crime film master Johnny To brings his latest release to Blu-ray.  Hong Kong cinema usually produces some great crime dramas, so I’m pretty excited to tackle this one.  It appears to be an on the clock chase thriller.  An inmate on death row for making meth has been given an opportunity to get out of his death sentence if he turns informant and brings down a powerful cartel.  He’s got 72 hours.  Sound pretty cool to me.  After the jump you’ll find details regarding this release as well as a preorder link.

“Dynamic chase film hits all the right buttons to fascinate edge-of-seat cop op addicts.”

“The genre thrills are as potent as the story’s themes …” – Keith Uhlich, TIME OUT NEW YORK

“… features a tense, unstoppable momentum, a morally ambiguous protagonist and hugely involving action scenes, all of which provide a welcome alternative to many of the less precise spectacles released on American screens this summer.” – Eric Kohn, INDIEWIRE

Debuting on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD October 15th

PLANO, TEXAS.  (August 14, 2013) – From Johnnie To (Life Without PrincipleElection), master of the Hong Kong crime thriller, comes the critically-acclaimed, action-packed drama DRUG WAR, debuting on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD October 15th from Well Go USA Entertainment. Cars are crashed, bullets fly, blood spurts, bodies splatter and cocaine is snorted in this high-velocity tale of a drug cartel boss who, after being arrested in a raid, is coerced into betraying his former accomplices as part of an undercover operation. The film stars Louis Koo (Triple TapAccident), Sun Honglei (A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop), Michelle Ye (MotorwayOnce a Gangster), Huang Yi (LegendaryRomancing in Thin Air), Wallace Chung (Forever Young), and Li Guangjie (MotorwayRomancing in Thin Air).

Manufacturing just 50 grams of meth in China will earn you a death sentence. Timmy Choi (Louis Koo) just got caught making tons. Now he’s in the custody of Captain Zhang (Sun Honglei), and has one chance to avoid execution – turn informant and help the cops bring down the powerful cartel he’s been cooking for. Over the next 72 sleepless hours, the sting spins out of control, the line between duty and recklessness is blurred, and it becomes unclear who actually has the upper hand.
