Lionsgate Acquires Home Entertainment Distribution Rights To Delightful Animated Preschool Series Julius Jr.

Julius Snow MonkeyLionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the premier next generation global content leader, today announced that it has entered into an agreement withSaban Brands, a strategic brand management company that acquires and builds global consumer brands, to acquire the home entertainment distribution rights to new top-rated animated preschool series Julius Jr.   Lionsgate will serve as the exclusive distributor of Julius Jr. product for all packaged media, EST and transactional video on demand rights in the United States and Canada.  The announcement was made by Lionsgate Executive Vice President of Marketing and Family Entertainment Anne Parducci and Saban Brands Senior Vice President of Global Distribution Frederic Soulie.

The deal builds on a successful, long-standing relationship that has seen Lionsgate distribute Saban’s hit television series, Power Rangers, in the home entertainment market. The two companies also recently announced a partnership to produce an original live action theatrical feature film based on the iconic Power Rangers property, set to release July 2016.

Julius Jr., the new animated series inspired by the world-renowned Paul Frank brand, features the quirky and lovable characters: Julius Jr., Worry Bear, Clancy, Sheree, Ping and Chachi. The second season of Julius Jr. is slated to premiere this November on Nick Jr.  Lionsgate’s initial home entertainment feature release – Julius, Jr.: Snow Monkey Adventures – will launch in December.

“We have a long, successful relationship with Saban Brands and are thrilled to be able to add this imaginative new property to the fold,” said Parducci. “Paul Frank is such a strong and globally recognized brand and utilizing those characters to engage preschoolers to promote creativity and ingenuity is the perfect type of high quality, captivating children’s entertainment that has become our trademark.”

Julius Jr.: Snow Monkey Adventures will be available for the first time on DVD (plus Digital) and Digital HD December 2nd and includes 6 episodes of the charming preschool series – filled with music, creativity and out of the box thinking for children. The DVD package also contains a full-size Fisher-Price Julius Jr. figurine (while supplies last).  Just in time for the holidays, enter the miraculous world of Julius Jr., and join this funky monkey and his pals as they unlock young imaginations with inventive episodes and toe-tapping music videos.  This new series takes preschoolers on exciting adventures into a magical cardboard box playhouse and through the wondrous Hall of Doors to discover the importance of cooperation and creativity. Whether trying something new or helping a cloud make snow, fun is always just a door away!
