Day 1. Hell, I’m even importing the Steelbok.
I concur. I don’t need no steelbook, but I definitely NEED this Blu-ray title in my collection!
We’re all on the same page here.
It was pretty good but nowhere as good as the original.
No one’s going to argue that, but it’s still a nice companion piece (I personally love Predator 2 a lot as well).
Certainly a strong Rodriguez year, with this, Grindhouse blu-ray, and Machete coming soon.
I liked Predator 2 also. I would rank them Predator, Predator 2, and then Predators. I won’t even bother adding the AvP movies.
And that puts Sean on my cool list.
I agree with Sean. Those are my order of favorites too! I own both AVPs on Blu-ray, but only because I can’t get enough of the Predator. The first AVP was cool, but lackluster and the second was horrible, but had some pretty good death scenes in it.
Here’s the cover art for the Steelbook.

Tell me that doesn’t look great!
I have to say that I prefer the all black appearance of the regular Blu-ray release over the steelbook. The one thing I don’t like about import releases is those big numbers they litter the covers with.
Sometimes those numbers are actually just stickers that are over the shrink wrap or cardboard slip-cover.
Predator, AVP, Predators, Predator 2…AVP Requiem won’t even make my list…pure garbage.
I commend AVP Requiem for what they did though…a hard R with some serious carnage scenes that were over the top!
Yeah, if only I could have seen anything that was going on. Way too dark. But yes, the R-rating was a good touch.
AVP, truth be told, I kinda enjoy; even though it takes way too long to get to the action, let alone completely wipes out 2/3 predators way too quickly. It’s a credit to Paul W.S. Anderson’s work as a production designer that there is some creativity to be had in this film, it’s just a shame that he’s not a better screenwriter/director.
@ I hear ya. That Blu-ray of AVP-R is a mess! My XBR4 goes crazy trying to play that.
