The Daily Blu…October 28, 2009 – BIGGIE SIZED!

We have an enormous amount of Blu-ray announcements to make today so put your seatbelt on as I accelerate the Blu-ray bus with no precaution.  I have announcements from just about every major studio today so let’s start with my favorite news of the day from Fox.  The Diablo Cody horror/quirky comedy Juno II, sorry I meant Megan’s Body…ugh…there I go again…Jennifer’s Body will make its rumored Blu-ray debut on December 29th!  So if you want to see Megan Fox tease you with near partial nudity in 1080P, then this is the film for you.  Believe me when I say, she is nothing but a tease in this movie, but I can’t help the fact that it’s a guilty pleasure of mine.  Fox also announced they will be bringing The Simpsons: The Complete Twentieth Season to Blu-ray on January 12th.

In addition to the slew of popular titles arriving on the Blu-ray format December 29th, Universal Studios will deliver the Tim Burton produced animated film 9.  That’s one film I am definitely passing on and will make my list for one of the biggest disappointments of the year.  Universal will also be bringing the Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassin’s Ball sequel to Blu-ray on January 19th

Lionsgate Home Entertainment recently announced a January 19th Blu-ray release date for Weeds: Season 5.  I have heard so many good things about this show.  I need to check it out sometime.

Disney/Buena Vista just put the word out on the street about a January 26th Blu-ray release date for the Bruce Willis sci-fi thriller Surrogates.  This may be an interesting film.  I don’t know.  It could go either way.  I missed this one in the theaters.  I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised like I was for I, Robot a long time ago.

Speaking of December 29th Blu-ray release dates, Sony’s District 9 Blu-ray release will feature a demo of the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive game God of War III.  The demo will only be playable on the PS3.  After completion of the demo you will also be able to unlock a God of War III making-of-featurette.  For the kiddies, Sony has published a January 5th Blu-ray retail date for the animated hit Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  Sony has also been busy at working prep a possible December Blu-ray release of Michael Jackson’s This Is It.  That’s pretty quick for a film that has not even hit the theaters yet, but you got to cash in quickly I assume the thinking is.

Last but not least, Warner Bros. will release Chuck: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray January 5th.

How’s that for a daily dose of Blu-ray news?  Don’t answer that.  It was a rhetorical question.  Have a good rest of your hump day!
