‘The Other Guys’ Stumble Onto Blu-ray in Dec.

So here’s a film that really surprised me this summer.  Who knew a PG-13 rated film could ever be so funny?  I had no desire or fervor to even check this one out, but I was pleasantly surprised during my press screening of The Other Guys.  What was I surprised about?  Well quite frankly, I was surprised at how much I laughed and enjoyed this one.  I thought I had enough Will Ferrell to last me a lifetime, but it turns out I didn’t.  In fact, I’m ready for another helping when Sony unleashes The Other Guys on Blu-ray to retailers everywhere on December 14th. Check out the full press release below and pre-order your Blu-ray today (that’s an order)!

Culver City, CA (10/11/10) – Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are armed and dangerously funny in the year’s #1 action comedy THE OTHER GUYS, available on Unrated Blu-ray Combo Pack, Unrated Single Disc Blu-ray and Unrated DVD & Theatrical Cut DVD this December 14th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Funnyman Will Ferrell re-teams with director Adam McKay (Talladega NightsStep Brothers) and partners onscreen with Mark Wahlberg (Date NightThe Departed) for this hilarious tale of misfit detectives who finally get the chance to step out from behind their desks and into the line of fire. Featuring humorous supporting turns from Eva Mendes (HitchTraining Day), Michael Keaton (Batman,Out of Sight), Daman Wayans Jr. (Dance Flick, “Def Comedy Jam”) and Rob Riggle (The Hangover),  THE OTHER GUYS suits up for even more gut-busting fun on Unrated Blu-ray and DVD, featuring an Unrated film version with footage too outrageous for theatres, plus the behind-the-scenes featurettes “Crash and Burn!” and “Bed Bath and Way Beyond.”

The Blu-ray Disc also includes the BD-Live™ enabled movieIQ, which allows viewers to access live trivia information about THE OTHER GUYS’ cast, crew, music and production – all while watching the movie. The Blu-ray Combo Pack also features a bonus Digital Copy of the film for download on a PC, PSP®, Mac or iPod.

THE OTHER GUYS will be available to own on Blu-ray Combo Pack, on Unrated Single Disc Blu-ray, and on Unrated and Theatrical Cut DVD.

Synopsis

NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson (Johnson) and P.K. (Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don’t get tattoos – other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg). You’ve seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They’re not heroes – they’re “the Other Guys.” But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City’s biggest crime. It’s the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?

THE OTHER GUYS was written by Adam McKay (Talladega NightsAnchorman) and Chris Henchy (Land of the Lost, TV’s “Entourage”). It was produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jimmy Miller (Land of the LostStep Brothers) and Patrick Crowley (The Bourne Identity series, Eagle Eye). I missed this one in the theaters but I’m really looking forward to the Blu-ray.

  2. Aaron Neuwirth

Brian, you realize that Ferrell has made a career out of PG-13 comedies (besides Step Brothers and Old School).

  3. Brian White

@Aaron. I know, but I thought the majority of them (besides the Holy Grail…NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY) were not that great.

  4. Aaron Neuwirth

I put Old School at the top, but Anchorman is a close second for me.

  5. Sean Ferguson

Not me. I say Anchorman first then Old School. It doesn’t get any better than Anchorman. I’m still pissed that Paramount said no to Anchorman 2.
