From New Line Cinema and BRON Creative come the gritty, female-driven mob drama “The Kitchen,” written and directed by Andrea Berloff, who was nominated for an Oscar for Original Screenplay for “Straight Outta Compton.” Based on the Vertigo comic book series from DC Entertainment, the film stars Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Bridesmaids,” “Tammy”), Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip,” “Night School”) and Elisabeth Moss (TV’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” TV’s “Mad Men”) as three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI.
The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “About Time”), James Badge Dale (“Only the Brave,” “13 Hours”), Brian d’Arcy James (“Spotlight,” “Shrek The Musical”), Margo Martindale (TV’s “The Americans,” “August: Osage County”), Oscar winner Common (“Selma,” “Marshall”), Bill Camp (“Vice,” “Jason Bourne”), with an ensemble cast including Jeremy Bobb (“Marshall”), E.J. Bonilla (TV’s “The Long Road Home”), Wayne Duvall (“Prisoners”), Annabella Sciorra (TV’s “Daredevil”) and Myk Watford (TV’s “True Detective”).
Berloff’s screenplay was based on the comic book series created for DC Vertigo by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. The film was produced by Michael De Luca and Marcus Viscidi. Serving as executive producers were Richard Brener, Michael Disco, Dave Neustadter, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Elishia Holmes and Adam Schlagman.
“The Kitchen” will be available on Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-ray features a Blu-ray disc with the film and special features in hi-definition, and a Digital version of the movie. The DVD features a DVD with the film and a special feature in standard definition, and a Digital version of the movie.
“The Kitchen” will also be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.
Fans can also own “The Kitchen” via purchase from digital retailers beginning October 22.
SYNOPSIS:
Between 8th Ave. and the Hudson River, the Irish mafia runs 20 blocks of a tough New York City neighborhood known as Hell’s Kitchen. But for mob wives Kathy (Melissa McCarthy), Ruby (Tiffany Haddish) and Claire (Elizabeth Moss), things are about to take a dramatic and radical turn. When the FBI sends their husbands to prison, the three women take business into their own hands by running the rackets and taking out the competition.
