Fox sets release date for ‘Star Wars 3D’ !

It will be a day long remembered! The Star Wars Saga will be back in theaters next February in 3D starting with Episode I – The Phantom Menace and followed by the rest of the legendary series!  I know some people will inevitably complain that it will be in 3D but the conversion is being supervised by ILM and George Lucas personally and it will look fantastic I’m sure.  Besides, does it really matter?  This is the Star Wars movies back on the big screen where they belong!

According to Variety:

Saga to preem in theaters on Feb. 10, 2012

It’ll be a happy Valentine’s Day weekend for fans of the force next year, as the first installment of 3D version of the Star Wars saga will preem in theaters Feb. 10, 2012.

The 3D versions are being released in numberical order, so first up is “Episode I: The Phantom Menace.”

Apparently sensitive to criticism of recent 3D conversions, studio said “Supervised by Industrial Light & Magic, the meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for the source material, and with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions.”

Well I guess that’s better than a Kate Hudson/Valentine’s Day rom com, but damn that’s a long wait to see the scene in Jedi with the A-Wing ramming into the Super Star Destroyer in 3D, followed by the Millennium Falcon Death Star Run.

Aaron, love your take! I can’t wait for Jar-Jar in 3-D!

Ok i love star wars and can’t wait to see it back in theaters but am I the only one who’s over this whole 3d garbage. Honestly, I think every ten years they try this it has limited success and everyone forgets about it until another 10 years pass and the cycle repeats.

Despite my undying love for the franchise, the 3-D Hater in me still would rather see them wasting their time making NEW Star Wars films!

They could bring back all your favorite characters, like Jar Jar, Wicket, Lobo, that singing creature from Jabba’s Palace, the Max Rebo Band, Porkins, and Jake Lloyd

I am confident that this will be totally cool and a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see them all on the big screen again!
