Our “TOP 10” Blu-rays of 2008

2008 was an important year for the Blu-ray technology front.  It was the year we were victorious in the, what seemed like forever, Hi-Def Format War.  Let’s see George Lucas make a movie or television show about those 2 years.  Since 2006 Blu-ray fought tooth and nail against rival Toshiba’s inferior HD DVD product.  The only reason that the inferior HD DVD disc lasted so long was because they were cheaper to produce.  And believe me, if you invested in this technology you would know just how cheap the product felt at times.  It took Warner Bros., jumping the ship of neutrality, to finally topple the evil HD DVD empire.  Personally, I can’t believe it lasted that long.  When Paramount was asked in 2007 why they did not deliver a lossless audio track on the biggest movie to ever hit the HD DVD format, The Transformers, there answer was simply there was not enough room.  Well duh!  You chose to side with an inferior product well knowing the space limitations.  When that was disclosed to the public it should have been a no-brainer…the format war should have been over.

Enough with the ancient history lesson.  We won!  Hooray!  Hooray!  Let’s move on to our next goal…crumpling the remaining evil empire of Standard-Def DVD.  Their regime is tight but “the night is darkest before the dawn…and I promise you the dawn is coming” (powerful words of District Attorney Harvey Dent…R.I.P.)…we will prevail victorious again!

We here at Why So Blu would like to take a moment to recap what we think are the 10 greatest Blu-ray releases of 2008.  Again, these are of our own opinions and do not reflect the thoughts of the general America public (although they should).  And here we go…
