SDCC 2017: Thursday’s Schedule

Comic-Con 2017 is just right around the corner, and they’ve begun to send out the schedule of events. The big event is going to be the 20th Century Fox panel. Hopefully we see some of Deadpool 2, The Predator, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. I’m also pretty excited for the Netflix panel as well; Bright has been a project that has been kept secret, so it’d be great to see some new footage from that. Ayer is one of the most insane filmmakers working today, and after Suicide Squad being torn apart, he deserves to have a film that sticks to his original vision. What are you most excited for?

The Fifth Element seems to be one of those films that is every sci-fi + A/V enthusiasts wet dream. I’m not saying by any means it’s the greatest movie ever made, but you can definitely have fun with it if you allow it. The film’s audio surround track has always been heralded as a favorite amongst home theater enthusiasts/fans. This one practically screams 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray treatment so much so that I’m really shocked Sony didn’t release it last year. Maybe they were waiting for the the all-new bonus featurette to be completed. It’s even presented in 4K here. In “The Director’s Notes: Luc Besson Looks Back” extra the acclaimed director discusses the origins and impact of the celebrated film. Whatever the reason of delay for this historic 4K UHD release the day is finally among us and the wait is practically over. For the next few weeks we’re gonna concentrate on the early works of one of the oddest and most original auteur filmmakers working still today. A master of fantastic visuals and askew stories that never ceases to amaze – filmmaker David Cronenberg! Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Three
Batman #25 came out in print and digital formats this past Tuesday, but it wasn’t the Caped Crusader that everyone was necessarily clamoring to read about this week. Turns out the greed of two of Batman’s biggest arch rivals have pitted their wits and forces against one another. Ladies and germs, this is a story that a lot of fans have been waiting for for sometime. In this corner, it’s the patron of purple pants! The man of masquerading makeup! The killer clown! It’s…THE JOKER! And over here in this corner, it’s the inquisitive interrogator! The curious questioner! The green gangster! He’s…THE RIDDLER!
The son of the X-Men’s Cyclops will likely make his big screen debut in the next Deadpool film, but for now, all you fans of our favorite time-traveling mutant can whet their appetite on Marvel’s latest Cable series for 2017. Written by James Robinson and pencilled by Carlos Pacheco, Nathan Summers is back to start some ruckus! Don’t worry, he only destroys things for a good cause. In this case, it’s to save the integrity of the time continuum, so buckle up because we’re about to blast into the past with Cable.
I think I’m one of the few people in the world who liked the third Sam Raimi Spider-Man film and you better believe it that I was bummed when the fourth in the series was nixed. However, I did also adore Andrew Garfield as the next incarnation of Spider-Man and had high hopes for how they could pull off a Sinister Six film. Sadly both of these projects also fell by the wayside too. While I have nothing against Tom Holland as the rebooted Spidey I just don’t like how he was shoehorned into the Civil War storyline sans backstory or anything of the sort. What made it worse for me was his Spidey suit is completely Stark tech. While I never really believed a high school student could make such a cool superhero costume I am just not enamored by the fact that minus the web shooters its all Stark’s creation. So now that I have all that off my chest it’s time to digress because like it or not we have the start of yet another Spider-Man franchise dubbed Spider-Man: Homecoming. The only difference is this time our Spidey lives in the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Let’s talk more.
