Are you getting excited to see Walter White have it out with Godzilla this summer? Well, he probably won’t be going mano-y-mano with him, but they’re in the same movie, so let me have that. If you’re a big time fan, or someone looking to brush up and do some homework on the big fella (like me) before the release of the brand new summer blockbuster, Sony has got you covered. On May 6, they will be releasing 4 double feature Blu-rays, which means 8 classic Toho Godzilla movies on glorious Blu-ray! How much more exciting will it be to see monsters battle and buildings crumble in 1080p high definition! Oh and I’m sure that famous roar is going to sound so fantastic on lossless audio! Two weeks! That’s all we got until THE WINTER SOLDIER finally is here! So, in the meantime here’s a new TV spot and the IMAX run of posters which are SUPER DUPER awesome. The Winter Soldier opens nationwide on April 4th. I’m pretty sure you should probably be getting your tickets now as its the film that has everyone hyped to see it. If you’re not excited for it…I’m sure you have your own reason. Scroll down and you can see this new teaser and posters!
This doesn’t make up for Oldboy, but alas someone is finally digging into Spike Lee’s back catalog of films. And, funny enough, I now need to write a new piece for next week’s ‘Wishlist’ article as it was going to be for The 25th Hour which now sees a release date of June 10! It also includes a film I liked back when I saw it (but haven’t seen since the 90s) Summer Of Sam. Probably the highest profile of this release to many will be He Got Game. All the films feature a newly recorded commentary track. Maybe Jungle Fever is down the pipeline sometime soon? Its still not clear whether these will be 2-disc sets or share a disc. If they’re using BD-50s (which I would be shocked if they weren’t), then its really no big deal. No pre-order is available yet, but scroll down for the first official announcement and specs! 
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has finally announced the Blu-ray release of writer/director Spike Jonze’s award-winning Her, which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt, Olivia Wilde and the sexy, seductive voice of Scarlett Johansson. The romantic science fiction drama was nominated for five Academy Awards (including Best Picture) and won Best Original Screenplay. Oh yeah! The date! I’m sorry…I’m just so excited for this release!!! Her will arrive on Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack on May 13th. I was blown away by what a character relationship piece this is and can’t wait to experience it all again on Blu-ray! Check out the full press release below. 
I really did not know what to expect with this one having not seen anything Muppets on television or in the movies since my childhood. I’m not entirely sure why I went that long with a Muppet-like drought, but nevertheless I did. However, much to my surprise, Muppets Most Wanted was like a family reunion for me. You know how you can let years past and not see extended family, but just pick things right up like nothing ever happened upon reunion? Well, it’s simply like that. It felt good! As Muppets Most Wanted unfolded on the screen, I remembered all those characters like a book unravelling one is reading for the second time. Talk about a blast from the past! You can add wrinkles to my face, pepper my hair gray and pile me under tons of non-fun adult debt, but you can’t take away that geeky kid in me no matter how hard you try (the PlayStation 4 is evidence of that). And best of all, Muppets Most Wanted, like the television show of my childhood, scores lots and lots of superstar cameos. I like that! So come on! Let’s cut Animal loose from his chains and get this party started! 
So, St. Patrick’s Day was on Monday and its come and gone. But my wishlist posts on Thursday, so in belated St. Patty’s day fashion, my choice coincides with the holiday. Plus, my pick this week always goes down so much better with a pint by your side as you watch.
In anticipation of the April 1st release of Disney’s The Pirate Fairy on Blu-ray Combo Pack we’re excited to share a new featurette exploring the legacy of Neverland in the film. Just in time for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, here we have an animated Avengers adventure coming right at our Blu-ray players. What’s funny is that this is being put out by Sony. So, while they are targeting this release to closely coincide with The Winter Soldier, you’ll find no trailer or other promotional material for the upcoming Marvel film anywhere on this disc (Captain America doesn’t even show up in this film, but Black Widow and Nick Fury who are also in The Winter Soldier are here). Staying in tune with all the more adult-aimed Marvel animations that have appeared on networks like the now defunct G4, this is done Anime-style.

In celebration of today’s release of Disney’s Frozen on Blu-ray Combo Pack please see the below video of the filmmakers visiting the Hotel de Glace in Quebec City! The ice hotel served as inspiration for Elsa’s ice palace, and this year featured a Frozen family activity cave and a room modeled after Anna and Elsa’s bedroom. Wes Anderson is a creature of habit. He has developed a uniqueness that has such a look, feel and sound to his films that they have become a genre themselves. You know you’ve really made it when Saturday Night Live makes a mockery of you and most recently, SNL took Wes Anderson on and produced a skit that summed up every Wes Anderson cliché to perfection. The Grand Budapest Hotel is no exception and follows suit as it uses the same bright color schemes, camera shots, and cast. 
The coming summer months bring with them the welcome heat wave to kick it at the pool each and every day or if you are our own Aaron Neuwirth, the ability to dive from your own roof into the pool and oh yeah…the reason we are all here today…HBO’s steamy hit series True Blood. Following telepath Sookie Stackhouse and her roving troupe of vampire, werewolf, faerie (and the occasional human) friends and sometime foes as they navigate the seedy supernatural underbelly of Bon Temps, Louisiana, this sexy, scary, wildly entertaining series has been heating up HBO’s summer line up for six years. Six years! Can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday when I got Season 1 for my birthday to check out blindly. But all good things must come to an end I guess, huh? Boo!
