In my day job as a preschool teacher, Trolls and the music of Trolls has played a large part of my student’s classroom life. They love the music and talk about the characters a lot. I have never beyond the music seen or know anything about the Trolls universe. So I took the plunge, and started with this, Trolls Band Together, the third of the series. It’s hard to believe that the films are now a trilogy, but obviously Universal and Dreamworks are doing something right! One of the best films of 90s British cinema, let alone the 90s in general, Danny Boyle’s sophomore effort, Trainspotting, is a well-respected cult classic for good reason. Along with helping break out Ewan McGregor (among others), this film has a terrific sense of style and kinetic energy that would define much of Boyle’s career while also capturing modern life for a particular generation. Seeing the Criterion Collection put out a 4K UHD release of the film brings me great joy, as it is a favorite of mine and can ideally inspire many to once again choose life, or at least choose 4K Blu.

Varsity Blues celebrates it’s 25th anniversary this year. This makes me feel old, to no surprise. I was 13 years old when the movie came out. I remember vividly the constant marketing on MTV, as it was released under Paramount’s MTV Films division. I also remember the cast, a who’s who of “teen” actors of the day. I keep saying remember, but truth be told, I love this movie!
